Awesome!!! great food and very pleasing atmosphere, the service was fast and friendly, we had drinks, appetizers and meal all in an hour in at 5 out by 6 !!!! We have never had a better fish dinner anywhere!!!! This place is what Guelph needs!!!!
Would recommend this restaurant to anyone it will get better with time and its exceptional know . Best of luck in the future .
Tonight was opening night for the Fat Duck. Considering that, the food was spectacular. Tim Halley, the previous executive chef of the Aberfoyle Mill did not disappoint, being spot on with each dish that came out. The shrimp dumplings were cooked as "potstickers". The filling had plenty of shrimp and the Asian salad was the perfect compliment. The sauce was so good my wife kept the plate so she could dip her thick sweet potato chips in it. The Crispy Duck was crisp on the outside but so tender on the inside it melted off the bone. The asparagus was tender yet not mushy and the thick sweet potato chips were huge and cooked just right. My wife finished off the chips with the sauce from the dumplings. The Rowe meat beef burger was probably the thickest I've ever had. The slightly sweet caramelized onions and rich cheese melted down over the medium rare beef patty and was topped off by fresh lettuce and tomato, all on a tender Kaiser bun. The thick chips were really "thick", stacked like wooden beams on the plate. I dribbled vinegar over the chips and dipped them in the horse radish mustard that was supplied. Mm, mm, mm - so good! The service was slightly on the slow side, which is understandable for opening night. The waitress was friendly, polite and she consistently visited our table to see whether or not we were satisfied. All in all, it was a very satisfying meal and evening. My wife and I will definitely be back and would highly recommend The Fat Duck. It is a great addition to the south side of Guelph.
Very good service. Wait staff was very friendly. Salads were great and well presented. Would definitely return again. Have to give restaurants time to develop in Guelph. Nice to have a new restaurant at the south end of Guelph
We were gracefully greeted at the front entrance by Rose the Owner. Our order was taken promptly from a very friendly waitstaff. We had the option of Sweet Potato Fat Chips or Regular Fat Chips. Once our meal arrived within 10 minutes or ordering we were greatly impressed with the presentation and portion size of a juicy open faced certified angus striploin sandwich. The artisan baguette was lightly grilled, fresh and easy to bite into. This meal was complimented with a wonderful homemade garlic alioli which was awesome!!! Our Compliments to Chef Tim!!! Cant wait to come back for another of my weekly fix the Fat Duck's Steak Sandwich. Hats off to the kitchen staff!!
