Isle de Garde is a bar-restaurant-brewery located on Beaubien Street. The six co-owners, who are friends, had been nurturing the idea of opening a restaurant since 2012. Established in 2014, this brewery is well known in the neighbourhood.
Michael explains why they chose the area. "It was established here because this is our neighbourhood. Most of us live here, in one of the most attractive neighbourhoods in Montreal. It's lively, just like us."
As with most businesses, the beginning was difficult. "The idea was there, we knew where we were going, we had a concept. We wanted somewhere that was different, with high quality but not overly expensive products to cater to the neighbourhood residents," says Michael. All those ingredients came together in just the right way to win over their investors.
At Isle de Garde, microbrews are served on tap in large quantities. Go with Mint-Chlorophyll from Rise Kombucha, the Berliner Weisse from Bilboquet, the Old Ale Brett with molasses from Hermite, or the Vin de Sarrazin from Brasserie sans gluten.
The Isle-de-Garde tavern offers beer, food and whiskey! Located on Beaubien Street, the restaurant’s diverse menu includes pork ribs, a burger aged 40 days, salmon tartare and grilled pork tongue. Isle-de-Garde also offers over 22 beers from Quebec microbreweries.
