Schnitzel was hard as shoe leather and tasted like freezer burnt cardboard. Unable to eat more than two bites and instantly lost appetite. Hamburgers and fries? Flat patties and ho-hum fries. Service was awful - waitress did not ask after serving or after meal whether customer was happy. Worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant, period. Stay away from any place that would serve this type of garbage to customers. Few people were in the place at dinner time - I should have walked out.
My family loves to get together over breakfast and catch up on each others lives. Our #1 choice for the past 10 years is the Daily Grill. Wait staff are always friendly, and they remember us and even my nephews' orders (which rarely vary). The "Requisite" breakfast is an exceptionally good deal and always arrives quickly and hot! My Mum loves the Belgian waffles, my nephews rave about the pancakes, my Dad enjoys the steak and eggs. We do go for dinner sometimes. The chicken parm is a big serving of homey deliciousness that will leave the hungriest diner full. My husband, who loves a good burger and is picky about what exactly that constitutes, says the Grills' banquet burger is one of the best out there. Good hours. Lots of parking. But be prepared for a wait to be seated for breakfast on Sat and Sun. It's popular!
Attempted to phone in a pickup order. Wanted breakfast but too sick to sit in a restaurant. Abruptly advised to "wait a second" and 4 minutes later still on hold. Unacceptable service if you want my money.
We consider this a regular working person's restaurant for people like us. Found this place when we lived on Kings Court Drive Moved to Kitchener, 2 years ago but will keep going back unless they get stupid. Other reviews seem pretty harsh for this working slugs eatery. Truckers would love this place but it's not a truck stop. I've had their Hot Beef Sandwich, Fish & Chips Steak Stir fry ( It's all good and usually MORE than I can eat. What can I say? It's a decent little place to fuel up. The wait staff get a bit careless from time to time but are generally just fine. Enjoy.
This place has FAST food. That is the best thing I can say about it. If you are REALLY hungry and want to eat right away, go here. However, every time I go I get rude/sloppy service. No refills, when I ask for my left overs packed up, twice they have thrown out the fries and given me only the fish/burger when I still have ample fries left that I also wanted! The third time I went, I asked for the server to bring the to-go box to the table to avoid this. I agree with earlier mentions that the menu is ridiculous- its huge and overwhelming. This place is ok. Would not go out of my way to eat here.
"For five? Just grab that big one over there", shouts the random waitress from behind the kitchen counter, as she points to some invisible table in the back. Perhaps not the best way to greet the customer, but I'm not picky so I figured "what the heck, she must be busy." After finding our table, we sat down and another waitress appeared shortly to get our drink orders. From there on the service was good - no attitude, no mistakes, and no delays. Our orders came rather quickly and everything was hot/fresh. The salad was especially fresh, which was a nice surprise considering some of the other reviews below. Either way, the food was very tasty and plentiful. The menu seemed somewhat random to me though - it had no particular nationality associated with it. They had some Greek souvlaki entrees, a bunch of Italian pastas, the typical pub food (burgers, wings, ribs, and so on), and then the few steak options, which were rather pricey ($18.99 for an 8oz steak? I don't think so...). Then again, I wouldn't go there for their "high-end" food when the cheap stuff is so plentiful and tasty. The atmosphere was pretty average, but there wasn't much to look at so make sure you take an interesting friend with you if you go there - which you should, at least for lunch, if you're near. PROS: Good food, and lots of it. Quick service. Fair prices. CONS: Disorganized menu, too high a price for the good stuff (steak!)
It's unfortunate that the food is normally very good here. Upon our visit, it was a Sunday, one owner was obsessed about NFL, which was on the TV, while picking his nose at the lunch counter. The other owner was occupied with "regulars" in a booth. We won't be back. Never asked how our food was, so why be there? Completely disgusting and never once saw him wash his hands after picking his nose, and came back with a mouth full of food from the kitchen.
Upon making the mistake of going to the Daily Grill this evening for dinner, I ordered the chicken souvlaki. It arrived cold smelling well - odd, tasting like it was not seasoned and cooked a few days before, then reheated quickly on a dirty grill. I told the waitress -who was very nice- when she asked if everything was alright, that the food didn't taste right. She asked if I'd like something else, I told her "No thank you" . My reasons personally (and unspoken to the waitress) were that I didn't want anything else from their kitchen, and we've all heard the stories of what happens to the food of complaining customers. I didn't eat any more of the souvlaki (leaving at least 3/4), and when our group finished eating and the waitress gathered the plates, I asked if she could adjust the bill for the unsatisfactory portion of my meal. She said yes and that she'd talk to the management. A few minutes later, a man who I understand is the owner or manager walks up and putting his fists on the table says "Someone's got a problem here?". I said " yeah I do". He asked what was wrong, and I told him the aforementioned. He told me boisterously that he sells a great number of these dishes, and nobody else complains.... He also insisted that his souvlaki was properly marinated and cooked right. I promptly told him that he had no right to come to our table and scold us for not liking his food, and that I had come for dinner not to be yelled at by the likes of him. He didn't seem to mind that he'd created a scene for the rest of his customers. I told him he was being ridiculous over a $9.00 plate of souvlaki. He told me he would cover my meal because it was cold, to which I informed him I was looking only for a price reduction. He went on about how he gets "on the defensive" when people complain about the food because he knows his product. I eat out 3-5 times a week, and haven't sent anything back or complained since I got a rotten banana with my pancakes about 4 years ago elsewhere -they were nice about it. I feel I was polite and was repayed with suspicion, rudeness and an obvious feeling of unwelcomness. No appology was made by the management for the bad food. The people who were with me told me they were appalled at the man's behavior and shared my view. Trust me, they would've told me if they thought otherwise. I saw the fellow on the way out, sitting at the bar watching a TV - by no means investigating the goings-on in the kitchen. The bartender gave me the evil eye on the way out. Serving food that's cold or doesn't taste good is forgivable, but reaming out your customer for complaining about it isn't fair. I would have much preferred to eat food made properly than to send it back. I'll NEVER go back. If you decide to go, only complain if you like a fight. Daily grill motto: like it or lump it.
We've been here a few times before, usually for breakfast and it was good. Last night, I ordered a cheeseburger with mushrooms, no onions and no relish. I received a cheeseburger, too well done, no mushrooms and WITH onions and relish stuck to the cheese which made it dificult to remove (I don't like to send things back for fear of retaliation by the chef). I asked the waitress to remove the mushrooms from the bill. She said she would but did nothing else to try and rectify the error. At the end of the meal we left in a hurry because of another commitment and I didn't realize until after we left that we had been overcharged and not just for the absent mushrooms. The manager took our payment and didn't even ask if our meals were ok. Not impressed!
What an awesome resaurant this is! Both the food and the service were excellent!I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!
We find the Daily Grill to be a great family restaurant. The staff are always very friendly and patient with the kids. The food is simple but good, filling, and plentiful. We always leave feeling full. We've been several times, and will definitely go again.
Great breakfast. More than any of us could eat and we are all big eaters. Thick toast. Fresh tasking eggs. Choice of meat. Great home fries. The only thing I would have liked better is real Heinz. The bottle was old and the stuff that poured out way too fast was clearly not the original. Other than that, great meal!
This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. Fortunately the surly girl who seated me did not serve me. The one who did left my order waiting on the counter for a few minutes before informing the cooking staff that part of the order was missing. So they took it back to cool off some more before adding some not-even-lukewarm chicken skewers. The "rare" steak was brown throughout. Seeing that they were over their head, I left after haggling that I had only had one beer instead of the two they were hoping to charge me for. Used to be a good restaurant, never again.
Excellent family restaurant. The staff are kind and attentive. Food is always great. Our kids love the Daily and we have never had a poor experience in the 3 or 4 years we've been going there for breakfast.
Probably one of the friendliest restaurants in town. Me and my fiance are there almost every weekend for breakfast. I've never had a single complaint about anything during our visits!
excellent place to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner as we have been there for all. great food, service and prices!!! you must tell your friends!!!
This was our first visit to The Daily Grill and it was a great experience. The food was good, arrived at our table quickly and piping hot. The staff was very attentive but not overbearing. Unlike numerous other establishments, these people know how to smile. The restaraunt was also very busy and they were more than capable of keeping up. Will definately return...
we go to the daily grill often on weekends for breakfast. we always sit in a booth by the windows and the service and food are always great!!! fast, friendly and right... we have yet to have anything messed up... love this place!!!
