We absolutely love the Thai food at the South East Cafe.My kids 7 and 3 love it there.We dine there at least once a week.We find the food very flavourful and the smells are outstanding.We've had everything from the Pad Thai,Beef and Broccoli,Beef and Mushroom the yellow curry,Beef and Chili is my 7 year olds favorite.My 3 year old loves the Stirfry Chicken and Cashew nut.The egg rolls are amazing,the best I've ever had.We've never had anything we didn't like.Even the desserts are fabulous.
As for the atmosphere,it's nice and quiet,the decor is subtle and refreshing.One of the cleanest restaurants I've seen.And I've worked in the business for over 25 years.
The servers are wonderful and knowledgable.They're friendly and quick.
And now since this restaurant has opened we rarely eat out anywhere else.
We went for supper, because we heard really good things about the Thai food.
But i really have to say it was a big disappointment.
The food in general had a huge lack of any Thai flavors. The green curry tasted like a spicy snow pea soup and the red curry like a spicy ginger soup.
No Thai basil, coconut cream/milk, barley any different vegetables, no kaffir lime leaf, no sweetness of any brown sugar.
The meals were well prepared, used fresh ingredients and presented well. But the seasoning was extremely off and if i would not know where i was eating i could have not said it was Thai food.
Atmosphere felt really tacky, dirty carpet, old plastic table cloths and the decor was most random.
The waitress was super attending and really professional.
Over all would not go back, a really disappointing dinner.
I agree with all that it is GREAT and probably the only breakfast joint in town that gives you fresh fruit with your breakfast (really good & fresh). However, their home fries and bacon are both deep fried and AWFUL. Everyone at the table agreed about the bacon being severely overcooked and inedible. If they grilled their home fries and cooked the bacon properly, it would be fantastic. Luckily I asked ahead and they did say the homefries were deep fried, so I didn't order them but my husband said they were terrible. I will certainly try this place again for lunch (they seemed to have some interesting things on the menu) and also again for breakfast as long as I don't get the bacon or homefries! I should mention that they had children's breakfasts for $2.99! And that was a bit of everything (egg, bacon, fruit, toast I think). Since I have a toddler it was nice to spend only $3 instead of $5 or $6 that many other places charge. I'll be back to see if they've improved that bacon!

We have been a customer since first opening! Go on an average of once per week. It is always great!! Having the fresh cut fruit, fresh bananas, apple, pear, blackberries, kiwi, strawberries, orange etc., is super. The food is always good. Most of the people that go there are of the older crowd that return often and that means it is really good quality food. Sometimes there is a line up at the door and it takes a few minutes to get in but the wait is well worth it. The service is almost always quick and efficient.
