I purchased a dress on my last trip to NYC that no longer fit me as I have lost 15 Lb since the purchase. I took the dress to the lady at elite alterations and I must say I was very impressed by her work as the dress looks like it was custom made for me. I will defiantly use her services again.
I had bought some expensive fabric and custom cut foam to give our cottage furniture an updated look and feel. I took all of this to Elite and asked if they could do this job and to quote it. There were 8 large pieces in total and she quoted me $400 as a cash deal. That sounded pretty good to me so I left it all with her. When she called to say it was ready I was very taken aback at the workmanship. Corners were loose and baggy, crooked seams. She even stuffed cotton wool into the corners to help correct it. It looked like a child had done the job. She was employing a young woman at the time and I can only assume she gave the job to her.
I was quite speechless but I paid her and walked away thinking there was really no way this could be corrected and I had to live with it.
In hindsight, I should have taken the pieces to an upholstering company. However, I do believe she should have been upfront with me. Being new in Oakville and still finding our way around I would have appreciated her referring us someplace else if she felt this area of expertise was out of her realm.
