Simply Amazing.

Tonight my Husband and I visited Ellison's Bistro for the first time. A coupon from our Treasure's book is what brought the restaurant to our attention, but the careful attention to detail, amazing quality and delicious food will make us lifetime customers. I seriously can not say enough about Ellison's Bistro. I'm not the type to write reviews, but in this case it was necessary. The restaurant is warm and inviting. The atmosphere is mellow yet engaging. The cuisine is divine. We both had the Jerk Chicken and we couldn't stop talking about it. Elvis was kind and always checked in. From the obviously homemade bread down to paying the cheque; it was a perfect experience. The presentation is also second to none. You must go. Elvis, if you ever have a chance to read this, please know how much we appreciate all your efforts and talents. We'll be seeing you (very) soon.

Don't believe the hype.

I think I need to stop relying on this site. I went to Ellison's looking forward to some delicious jerk - what I got was insanely dried out chicken and nearly inedible rice. The one saving grace was that Ellison sells his jerk sauce by the jar and it is a unique recipe (though not the best I've had). I can't afford to give restaurants second chances when they blow it so bad the first time, but maybe the chef was just having an off night.

Based on reviews here on Restaurantica I decided I'd try this place for my anniversary dinner with my wife. Ellison himself greeted us, asked we how we heard about the place and made some suggestions. Ellison himself was a joy to talk to, friendly and talkative but never overbearing. The food was great and a complete bargain for the price. You're paying Kelsey's prices for gourmet food. Ellison is a master of fish and it shows. Definitely start with the pepper pot soup. And if you're a fan of Egg Nog I recommend trying the irish moss, it's different yet enjoyable.

I love the food here! The chef is amazing. It's too bad the service is so horribly slow. It took the waitress 20 minutes to get our drinks after we ordered them (and there was only 2 other tables of 2 people each there). The bill took even longer, and had to be corrected twice. As much as I love the food, I'm not sure that a dinner taking 3 hours is worth it.
