Celtic Traditions ( formerly Celtic Woollens ) was started in 2000 by Michael Pratt and Lynn McGown who brought their passion for music and the philisophy of creating a space for a small cottage industry, fair trade goods retail store and music together.Michael is an outstanding singer, concertina player and fiddler who draws from his Irish roots as well as his involvement in the Folk Clubs in the British Folk Revival in the late 1960s and 70s before moving to Canada. Lynn's musical roots come from growing up in a French Canadian and English family in Montreal. She has a beautiful voice and sings with warmth and presence that inspires.Their songs range from traditional to contemporary but always touch the heart, entertain or delight, with their voices blending like fine wine making the harmonies beautiful. They are the founders of the Jericho Folk Music Club in Vancouver running since1994 with concerts every Tuesday, May through September. There latest venture is the Celtic Traditions Music School in Vancouver that gives lessons in Fiddle, Voice, Harp, Whistle,Bodhran, Concertina and Mandolin.Their CD Thousands or More reflects the heritages and eclectic musical tastes of Michael and Lynn, from Songs of the Sea, Canadian History, Love, Humour and Songs of Quebec.more...See more text
