?Brittany's Lounge is a great spot for after work drinks and features a variety of performance art with a keen focus on local high caliber acts by night. All set in a comfortable & refined atmosphere.
It was not long after moving to Edmonton, in 1995, that Brittany Halford first discovered a genuine modesty within the city. “I already liked Edmonton; but it just blew me away, this city," she says. "It’s blue-collar, proud of it, super, super, super creative — but humble about it.”
To contribute to Edmonton’s flourishing urban scene, Brittany decided to open her first bar; a place for open-minded residents to discover something unexpected about culture in the city.
A venue with character and history was needed, and the Kelly Ramsay Building filled both requirements –a place that took Brittany “a year and a half to renovate and open [the] space.” And, when everything was finally complete, a misfortunate event happened: The historic building, along with Brittany’s new bar, was damaged by fire.
That ill-fated event could have kept Brittany from pursuing her plans. But it didn’t. “It’s like fate said 'here’s a bigger challenge, but it seems like you can handle it,'” says Brittany.
Brittany’s Lounge is a casual bar with a focus on live acts. From live jazz performances every Tuesday to tango and musical theatre nights, you can catch all kinds of performance art at Brittany’s. They also have a unique ‘YEG Scramble,’ which is an open mic type concept for all types of performers from visual and auditory to movement or oratory. If you love to take in unique live art or are an artist looking for a venue to hone your craft, Brittany’s Lounge is for you.
This may very well be Edmonton’s best-kept secret. A newer establishment among its R&B counterparts, Brittany’s has a laid-back vibe equally inviting to the long-time jazz disciple and the novice fan. This comfortable venue brings an eclectic mix of performers and patrons alike.
This is a small, intimate setting where you can enjoy a grab-bag of live acts. In addition to musicians, the stage is open to anyone who wants to perform: visual artists, storytellers, dancers and more. Each musical guest is warmly welcomed by the gracious host, Brittany, and that sets a wonderful tone for the night. If you’re looking for a new place to hit after work, they’ve got killer drinks and entertainment experiences you’ll remember.
