THE MOST DISRESPECTFUL WAIT STAFF AND THE MANAGER WAS SO DISRESPECTFUL AND RUDE. THE FOOD WAS HORRIBLE. TOOK 40 MINS TO BE SEATED WITH A RESERVATION... OVER AN HOUR FOR OUR ENTREE'S TO COME OUT AND ON TOP OF THAT THEY FORGOT ONE. ALSO STEAKS ORDERED MEDIUM RARE CAME WELL DONE AND HAD NO FLAVOUR, AT THAT POINT WE DIDN'T EVEN WANT TO BOTHER TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THAT. THE MANAGER DID NOT COMP ANY FOOD AND WAS ARROGANT AND RUDE. I WILL NEVER SET FOOT IN THAT RESTUARANT AGAIN... ALSO OUR WAITER TOOK SO LONG TO COME CHECK ON OUR TABLE, WE ENDED UP GETTING UP TO GET OUR OWN DRINKS AT THE BAR...... ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. WORST RESTAURANT IN TORONTO BY FAR!!!!!!
Went here this past weekend and had such an amazing time. The service was excellent, the food was just the right portion & full of flavour and uniqueness, and what a patio! The ambience was so comforting and even though it was busy, you didn't feel cramped up on the patio. We thoroughly enjoyed everything and will DEFINITELY be going back!!! I give Brassaii big compliments on all of their dishes (we had apps, entrees, and dessert)...A must try place for anyone wanting go somewhere different and unique!
this is a great place... everything from the walk up to brassaii. the service was great from the moment we walked in for the seating arrangements. everything was very quick from being seated to getting our food. we had the fries, tuna, flatbread, and greens as nothing caught our attention otherwise on the fairly small menu they have. the portions were very small and the tuna did taste better than average. the dessert was great. the greens came with no dressing so it was left untouched. this place is great for its service, decor and environment.
My friends and I went to Brassaii after hearing some good things about the food and cocktails but didn't expect to be blown away by our experience. We started on the patio for dinner (very good!) and then it started to rain a lot. The service staff scrambled to help us inside, carry our things and keep us as dry as possible. The food was replaced and the drinks were topped up. The speed and professionalism we experienced to ensure our comfort was second to none in our opinion. We stayed and enjoyed a few more drinks, the manager came by and said hello (just to say a genuine hello...which i rarely find happens nowadays) and we ended our night with a couple of very impressive desserts. The vibe and crowd was really good and the service was over the top. Thanks Brassaii for making our night
I had not been to Brassai for dinner since the change in ownership and renovations, so when a group of friends suggested we go to celebrate I happily agreed. What an disappointment! The entire staff acted like they were doing us a favour by having our group in for dinner and drinks. Not one smile, not one nice comment, only snippy responses from the bartender, our humorless and bland server, and even (and most surprising) the manager. Simple requests could not be honored as they were "not their policy". There was no attempt for guest satisfaction the entire visit. The food was tolerable, but nothing extraordinary. I will admit, it probably would have tasted better if the service had been remotely passable. Oh right, except for the water service, our server was very attentive to that. What we didn't realize, was that no one at the table had actually ordered the bottles water that the server kept pouring throughout the entire dinner...which, you guessed it, ended up on our bill at the end. Interesting, as it is not "my policy" to pay for things I didn't order. I will definitely not be visiting this restaurant again. Although the renovations are beautiful, the lack of courtesy, professionalism, and plain likability of the staff will ensure I don't inconvenience them again with my patronage.
The food was ok, The service was good. It was a little bit expensive but the have nice Kobeeda kabab. It was not as good as food in Iran.
I haven't been to Brassai since management changed and I was horribly disappointed. The food was excellent, just delicious, no faults there. Although, there was something about the bread, it seems each person was limited to one piece of bread. We asked for more and there seemed to be a problem. Our waitress was just not meant to be in the industry, she wasn't accommodating or pleasant in any way. She didn't realize that with 7 people she could have made a lot of money, we would have stayed and continued to have drinks and increased the amount of our bill. At first we let it go thinking she was just having a bad day but it got worse and we complained to the GM. He was surprised and we thought things would flow smoothly thereafter. But no it just went downhill, our drink orders were forgotten, our order was messed up. The GM came and gave us champagne on the house and all he said was I understand there was a mix up ladies the food should be here soon. No apology, no i hope things go smoother ladies, no follow up. One friend's 2nd glass of wine was forgotten and being that everything took soooo long to come she just decided to cancel it. Being in the service industry and having experienced bad service before, I hate to say that we hit rock bottom here. Between the stinginess with the bread, the horrendous waitress and the lack of follow up it was very disappointing. The meal was comped in the end but that is not what we were looking for, we were looking for a good night and great service. Again the GM never came back to do a follow up and say we have comped everything ladies, this is not the norm, we hope you will come back. That would have gone a long way.
I went to Brassaii recently for a corporate event and I'm really impressed with what they've done with the space since the renovation. The front lounge booths are big and spacious with large tables - good for smaller meetings. I also like the idea of their smaller dining room, it allows for privacy for the more important meetings with clients.
I work in the King West area, and I recently found out that Brassaii is playing the World Cup games in their lounge. The show all the games - 10:30am and 2:30pm daily - since they open at 7:00 a.m. and continue throughout the day. Not only is it so much more comfortable watching the games in their luxurious booths, but they are also offering specially priced beverages beginning at $1 an ounce wine and $5 draught. No need to rush home to catch the highlights when you can catch all the action live at Brassaii.
This was a comped meal which we very much enjoyed. This meal was very sophisticated and the entrees felt different. The atmosphere was both modern and austere however we were comfortable and relaxed. The hostess was superb. She exuded sexiness in heals. Similarly, the waitress was another cute blonde and worth her weight in gold. We were also charmed by the clientele.
Brassaii is one of my new favourite places. The space alone has something for everyone. The lounge is the perfect area for some casual drinks either while waiting for a table, or especially on a Tuesday night when their resident jazz band - The Bees Knees - are playing. The dining room is spacious and has the ability to put together a table for whatever your group size is - 2 or 20 - but still allows you the feeling of an intimate dinner once seated. The private dining room is perfect for an afternoon meeting or if you want a more intimate celebration with friends. The back room would have to be my favourite though. It's so versatile and can be rented out, but it's also such a great event room on Wednesday and Saturday nights. The DJ's have yet to disappoint me and the crowd has always been a perfect mix of people out to have a good time and make new friends.
A couple friends and I decided to check out Brassaii's Brunch that we had been hearing so much about. We shared a few items from the brunch menu to get a taste for it and wow, was it ever good!! We shared the Banana pancakes with apple and cinnamon compote (so fluffy and moist), their eggs benedict with their hollandaise sauce (amazing!) and their "Croque Monsieur" grilled sandwich with ham and guyere cheese. If that doesn't satisfy your appetite.... talk about options!! All of theses items were so well prepared, and came out in good time too! Add a few lemon creme pastries and some specialty Brassaii Mimosa's and we just found our new weekly Brunch location!!
I attended a medium sized corporate event last week at Brassaii. It was a pretty standard size party, cocktail style, appetizers and open bar. They had everyone in the private room at the back which was perfect for the number of people that had showed up. The event went extremely smoothly. With only two bartenders they managed to get everyone a drink effortlessly and with no waiting. The staff was friendly and the room looked very inviting. The food that was passed around was incredible and there was more then enough to go around for everyone. I was so impressed that i called the next day to book our corporate Christmas party with them.
Brassaii has always been a favorite restaurant of mine, so i was a bit disappointed when i heard they had changed executive chefs. However when my husband and i went for dinner we both ordered new dishes from the menu and i have to admit we were both extremely satisfied. I had ordered the Miso baked black cod and my husband went with the pork tenderloin. My fish came with an interesting mango salsa and wasabi mash which was extremely delightful and mouth watering. My husband allowed me to sample a piece of his pork and combined with the caramelized pears and haricots jus made the flavour of the pork come alive. We both will be back in the near future to sample other new dishes like the Bacon wrapped filet of beef or the beef carpaccio. Overall their new executive chef, Bruce Woods, will be an exciting new addition to the Brassaii family.
This morning I decided to give Brassaii a try for breakfast because I heard their pastries were fabulous. When I walked in I immediately saw freshly made almond croissants which I could not resist. I decided to take a half dozen back with me to the office and they ended up being a huge hit. Without a doubt I will be a return customer.
Had dinner last night at Brassaii Bistro Lounge …The new executive Chef Bruce Woods has changed the entire dinner menu and it is FANTASTIC!!! The Salmon Tartar is so flavourful…with an asian twist! I also had the miso black cod with mango salsa and wasabi mash. The miso melted in my mouth. They also have a new cocktail menu created by their resident Mixologist… jordan. (make sure you ask if he can make your cocktail for you) – the balsamic bramble was yummy!!! i will definitely come back to this place….
I chose to celebrate my 40th birthday at Brassaii with twenty of my closest friends. I booked the event with a very polite and poised hostess and chose to go with the very reasonable $45 prix fix dinner option. They sat me and my guests very quickly and without any problems or waiting. The table was set up in the very back which made the evening more intimate. The service was fast and the food was delicious. To top it all off, my best friend had called a few days prior and had requested their pastry chef make me a special chocolate cake for dessert. This cake was absolutely divine! It had chocolate truffle filling topped with a bittersweet chocolate butter cream and cocoa meringue. My entire party enjoyed themselves very much that evening and most importantly it made turning 40 just a tad bit easier.
A colleague and I walked in for lunch and ordered the Triple S which we both thought was fantastic. The Triple S is a $9 food combination of soup, salad and a sandwich. The service was friendly, fast and the venue was filled with charm and good taste. I will be sure to keep this gemstone in mind the next time I have a business lunch or dinner to reserve.
Brassaii Bistro Lounge hosted a celebratory dinner for the cast and filmmakers from the movie “Up in the Air” at the Toronto International Film Festival. Including actors George Clooney, Jason Bateman, Vera Farmiga, Melanie Lynskey, Anna Kendrick and director Jason Reitman. Others that came for the after party were actors Bill Murray, Amanda Seyfried and Rachelle Lefevre. It was a very cool party and the food yummy..
We went to Brassaii recently to celebrate a friend's 30th birthday. The food itself was adequate, in fact, quite good, but the service was absolutely terrible. We had a group of 15 people, and when making the reservations, the restaurant insisted that we use a set-menu approach. This request was not particularly unusual, and so we obliged. However, we were floored by what we experienced when we arrived. First of all, as soon as we were all seated, our waiter interrupted us and instructed us to look at our menu so that we could order promptly, in a tone that suggested we were three-year-olds. Even more mortifying was that he insisted that all of the steaks ordered at our table had to be cooked to the same temperature. Too bad if one person wanted rare and another wanted well done, this just wasn't allowed, because "the kitchen couldn't handle it." Seriously?! The kitchen can't handle cooking six steaks differently?! This was an absolutely ridiculous notion for a restaurant of that size. Okay, fine, everyone agreed to have their steaks cooked medium-rare. Even then, the steaks all came out medium-well. Throughout the meal, the waiters were rude and unprofessional. They would reach across the table without saying "excuse me", and were generally rough and abrupt. The meal cost $80 a person, and it seemed like the waiters felt that they were doing us a favour for serving us at all. The poor service was unprovoked; we are not rude or obnoxious, and as young professionals we are aware of appropriate behaviour and attire in these kinds of settings. When the bill comes to over $1,200 for dinner, you'd think the service would match the price, but it absolutely did not.

Brassaii is a trendy lounge known to have celebrity clientele from time to time. The menu, created by Chef Marcus Monteiro, is Mediterranean inspired, while the cocktail menu is classic with a modern twist. The patio offers a picturesque view of the CN Tower.
