Wife and I came here for our wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed. Everything tasted so good. The salmon, the steak and the appetizers were cooked perfectly and tasted excellent. definately will be back again.
Stopped in for lunch today, great decision. The beef tartare was very tasty. The potato soup was very hearty and a perfect for a cold rainy day. The grilled steak sarnie was also very good. The beer selection was excellent and the service was attentive and informative. I would have no hesitation recommending this to anyone.
Gastropub is one of those guilty pleasures that never disappoint. It's pricey, but the food is always outstanding and creative. The food changes daily and it's worthwhile to check the menu online beforehand. Complimentary bread is served continuously and is absolutely fantastic. Apparently it's made at a small bakery down the street from the restaurant. The selection of beer is great and include some microbrewed brands. I've had chicken, steak, and rabbit over the past year and each time it was exceptional. The appetizers and desert were likewise very memorable. I agree with some here that the food is on the saltier side, especially the rabbit that I had, but usually it hasn't been a problem, especially with a beer.
I have eaten at gastropub many times. You should book a reso because it is always quite busy. It is a high end restaurant with a casual feel. Dishes are always inventive and taste amazing. Generally I spend around $60 (including tip) for an app, main and dessert so it's not cheap but it is fab! Menu changes daily. If you love good food you will love this place!
My husband and I dropped in, spontaneously, over the recent Christmas holidays. We were told we could be seated as long as we were done within an hour since the table was already booked for 1 pm. Okay...we were hungry, so we agreed. The service was quick, and we both ordered the steak tartar to start. It was tasty, but I agree, way oversalted. And I like salt! After a few bites, we got used to it, but steak tartar shouldn't be overpowered with seasoning like that, so I was unimpressed. As a main, I ordered the scallops served on a puree of cauliflower, drizzled with olive oil. It was tasty, but the serving was small for the price. My husband chose some pork dish, and he liked it, but again, meager portions. My husband did enjoy the two draft beers he tried, and the atmosphere and service were good. But the bill...oof...over $80 for lunch. Pricey! I may go back with a group of friends for a celebration, but never again for a casual lunch while shopping in Westboro.
