The food is always great and I love the atmosphere! Definitely a must:-)
We keep going back because it's a cute establishment but we'd like to see more changes on the menu. Food is ok for what you get, no real complaints.
Thought it was a little overpriced for the portion size, it was an ok time, everyone was friendly enough. The food was fairly tasty but the space was really tight, felt like we needed to rush out so they could seat the next group. Kind of like eating in a fishbowl.
It's a little overpriced for what you get. The food is ok pub food with a twist but the restaurant itself it so tiny that you have to make a reservation. Doesn't make sense to me to reserve at a pub. Been here a few times, we go back only because the service is pretty good and they make a decent Martini.
This place has been around for a while, it's not bad - but not the best place to eat. The food is ok but overpriced for what you get. It's very small, perhaps they are trying to display an intimate setting but it just comes off as being a tight squeeze. I always feel like I'm in someones way.
We keep going back to this place because one of my friends likes it, however, every time we go with a large group we have problems getting seated, the restaurant is very small and does not seem to cater to groups.
Not sure what's supposed to be so great about this restaurant. The place is really jammed in there, somewhat like a case of sardines... The food was alright, I wouldn't say it was bad but I also wouldn't say that they have the best food in Manotick. It's very pub like; if that's what you're looking for then I supposed you'll feel right at home. I found it loud and just average...
This place remains consistently good-first time having dinner here and it exceeded my expectations. We`started with a flatbread with chicken, brie and caramalized onion-they bring grainy rolls to the table and had an interesting caramalized butter with it. Two of us had the black dog chicken-tender sliced chicken breast in a light sauce, rice pilaf and veg. The halibut with a light wine sauce was declared best ever and the steaks were fork tender. Very generous portions and great service despite it being completely full on a Saturday night-you should reserve for sure. Its only drawback is it does get quite noisy at times. We shared a raspberry chocolate concoction for dessert which was fantastic. One person had 1 of their unique martinis and loved it-can't remember the name but it had cranberry in it. I loved the rectangular plates they served the meals on.
The food was great and the service was even greater! and employees and manager were wonderfull. A must go place! Hard to find places like this nowaday!
This is my Go To place for visitors(I live in Barrhaven) I brought a friend here who was equally impressed. I had the best salad ever on this visit-curried chicken and my companion who had a sandwhich/sweet potato fry combo was jealous and said we'd have to be back soon so she could get it. On top of greens and thin slivers of onion, cucumber and cherry tomatoes sat a yummy scoop of chickpeas in a yogurt dressing with indian marinated cold chicken slices next to it. When it came from the kitchen it looked like a work of art prompting envious remarks from other diners. They have a host of other interesting salad options which makes a change from the usual boring greens standard in most places. The only thing missing would maybe be a couple of wedges of naan bread on the side.
Again a great meal and wonderful service at THE DOG! We all enjoyed our delicious meals. The small room over the entrance is ideal for a view of the evening sky in Manotick - but it's not private! Tables are very close to each other....
A Polished Diamond in the community. The food is fantastic, at a very reasonable price. The soup is created by a genius. All dishes are prepared using top grade ingredients. Cream based dishes actually contain whole cream. The pricing of absolutely everything in the restaurant is embarrassingly affordable. (You may feel as though you stole something after you leave) All staff members are diligent and delightfully accommodating. The environment varies from Calm/Relaxed to Exciting. The place will often become very busy in the evenings, close to, and on the weekend. It is quite a fun spot when it is busy and very relaxing when it is not. Satellite radio blues music plays always! Without Question: The BEST Restaurant South of Carling Ave!
I can't believe this fantastic place hasn't been reviewed before. It's in an old house on Manotik's main street with a nice patio. The food is fresh and the service has always been friendly and prompt despite being busy. It has a wonderful martini menu too. Lunch comes with perfectly done matchstick fries in an oversized cup or salad. Sweet potato fries and dipping sauce or soup are available as upgrades. The grilled brie, chutney and pear sandwhich is to die for. I have only lunched here and plan to try dinner soon.
