    Must Visit!

By far the BEST place to have a delicious, non-traditional breakfast/brunch! It's a smaller place, but it's always busy and that's for a good reason. The menu is unique, the prices are extremely fair and the portions are plentiful. If you're in the area, don't miss Coastal Cafe.

Halifax’s best bets for weekday breakfast

Halifax’s best bets for weekday breakfast

If you want a gourmet breakfast – arguably the best in the city – The Coastal Café is top choice for most locals. Doors open at 8:00 or 9:00 am during the week (10:00 am on Sundays) and breakfast is available all day long. The daytime menu is certainly unique, and includes a number of inventive dishes such as lamb meatballs served over scrambled eggs and apple pie-stuffed pancakes. Take note, the kitchen is closed on Wednesdays.

    Halifax's best weekend brunches

It can be tough to get a table at Coastal on weekends because it’s so popular, but this Halifax hotspot is definitely worth the wait. My advice: go a bit earlier than you would normally, just in case. Try the huevos rancheros – a Mexican breakfast classic – and you won’t be disappointed. If all else fails, head over to Mary’s Place across the street, which is generally less busy and also delicious.

    Best breakfast spots in Halifax

If you find yourself in the north end of Halifax in the early morning, you should pop in to The Coastal Café for breakfast. This place gets a lot of love from locals, who enjoy its cozy atmosphere while dining on brilliant breakfast creations. The menu features about 10 dishes, and each one is like no breakfast meal you have ever eaten. One such dish is The Elvis, which consists of a buttermilk waffle sandwich filled with peanut butter, bananas, bacon and maple syrup.
