There are over 100,000 jobs in the snowmobiling industry in North America. Find out how to turn your snowmobile hobby into a great new career.
Canada is a great place to snowmobile. Every year thousands of Canadians hop on their snowmobile and explore everything from adventurous mountain terrain to soft, powdery trails.
But did you know you could turn your passion for snowmobiling into a rewarding career? What if you could lead fellow snowmobilers throughout the best trails and sites as a guide? Or spend your days maintaining and repairing snowmobiles as a licensed mechanic? Or even design a brand new snowmobile from scratch?
There are lots of different kinds of jobs in the snowmobile industry. That’s because snowmobilers in Canada and the United States spend over $9 billion on their sport each year. This helps generate over 100,000 full-time jobs in the snowmobile industry in North America. Those jobs involve manufacturing, dealerships, and tourism related businesses.
There are even jobs outside of the snowmobile industry that still use a snowmobile. For example, there are special snowmobile police task forces. Parks Canada, resort ski patrol, and surveyors all sometimes travel by snowmobile.
The opportunities to work with a snowmobile are virtually endless if you set your mind to it. The key is figuring out what exactly you love about snowmobiling, so you can focus in on a specific type of work. Do you like working with your hands? Then you could make a great mechanic. Love riding? Consider becoming a trail guide. Passionate about the latest snowmobile technology? Then you might love to work at a dealership.
The best place to start looking for a job in the snowmobile industry is to contact your local snowmobile club or association. They’ll know all the mechanic shops, dealerships, and trails in your area. They probably have their own job board, or can point you to the best job board in your area. They will also know what kind of safety training, certificates, or licenses you need to get started working in the industry.
Best of luck with your new career and happy trails!
