Tis’ the season to get in the holiday spirit in this most festive city! There may only be a handful of Christmas markets to attend in Montreal, but each one is truly unique and special in its own way. Enjoy the beauty of the season to the fullest by visiting these amazing markets right here in the city.

Montreal’s best Christmas markets

The Nutcracker Market

Montreal Convention Centre, 1001 Place Jean-Paul-Riopelle

Since its opening in 2010, this Christmas market has been more and more successful every year. It’s an event both locals and tourists should make an effort to visit. Les Grands Ballets offers sick children and underprivileged youth the chance to take part in educational workshops and attend a performance of this most popular ballet.

A kiosk featuring the crafts made by children at the workshops as well as other exhibitors is well worth your money as proceeds go towards the upkeep of the set, as well as towards more events to benefit children in need. If you can only squeeze in one market visit this season, this should be it.

Le Grand Marché de Noël de Montréal

175  Ste.Catherine West

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – especially here! This market packs more holiday cheer in it than Santa himself! The decorations at this real life winter wonderland will bring the holiday alive for both adults and children. Plus, you can shop for unique gifts sold by various local vendors. The event is open nearly every day in December until Christmas Eve. Check their Facebook page for more details.

Etsy Christmas Market

Denise Pelletier Theatre
4353 St.Catherine Street E.

Montreal’s Etsy team has partnered with SDC Hochelaga-Maisonneuve to turn this city into a crafter’s paradise. Featuring 100 local artisan crafters, visitors will be able to shop the best this city’s artists have to offer. Looking for holiday décor or that unique, absolutely perfect gift? This is the market you won’t want to miss!

Maison Pepin Christmas Market

350 Saint-Paul St W.

Normally a shop featuring unique home décor items, this Old Port gem is transforming itself into a Christmas market this season. You can shop holiday decorations, attend a gift-wrapping workshop – even learn how to make your own amazing holiday wreath!

Until Christmas Eve, you can shop their festive goods, find the perfect gift, or attend some DIY lessons to become an expert on everything holiday-related! Visit their Facebook page or website for the exact opening hours and workshop schedule.

Atwater Market

138 Atwater Ave.

One of the city’s most well known markets, it’s no surprise it is also one of the best Christmas markets. Christmas trees are on sale all month long in December (sometimes even a little earlier!). Plus, the usual delicacies – with a festive twist – are also available. From delicious desserts to fresh holly, you’ll find everything you need to bring a little more holiday cheer into your home this year.
