Our party of two ordered a 9oz steak and shrimp fajitas. Fajitas were fantastic but steak was quite tough though cooked to order - had much better quality steak, I am thinking..We both found the gravy to be very salty and lumpy, and the steamed veggies tasted odd. Server was very friendly, helpful, and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Will probably be back but would not order the steak again. Read more

I brought my family to the Hyland this week and as always the food was excellent (and too much!) and the service was very friendly. Food is always delivered promptly, the restaurant is always clean, and overall, it is just a nice meal out with the family. I definitely recommend to any families visiting Port Perry. Being a Vegan for only 10 months I find it almost impossible to eat anywhere! We went to the Old Newcastle House and I was advised to try the veggie stir-fry. I have to admit I was hesitant, it was fabulous!!! I love to cook so therefore find it hard to find food I can say I love in most places!!! The company I was with also really enjoyed their food a lot! I have to say being OCD I always tend to look at the surroundings and this place is a little gem it is extremely clean ( which I love ) and beautifully decorated. I'm not sure what restaurantica12 problem is with this restaurant. Me and my husband comes here about once a month and it's fantastic, except simetimes when he gets the full rack of ribs one of them isn't the greatest. And honestly it's the best meal for your buck. I've eaten in Many South Asian restaurants over the years, having lived in Vancouver and Toronto. This is one of the best South Asian restaurants, and definitely in my top 3 that I've eaten in (out of poss. 10-15). Their Chicken Korma is the best I've ever had, & other dishes worth mentioning is veggie curry, and their madras (chicken). Their lamb curry is also excellent. They use fresh ingredients, and you might pay a little more then say a "buffet" style in Toronto (ie 10.99 for all you can eat), but here's why : the chicken for example is white meat/chicken breast. That means a Big difference in costs, where many buffet style places & other cheap eats, ie in Toronto may use thighs etc. Know when you are comparing apples to apples. Staff are friendly and helpful! Highly recommend this place. Good, reasonable lunch specials during the week from 7.99 (veggie curry). Enjoy! Read more
