Even a snowstorm doesn't keep Toronto diners down, as we discovered last weekend at Jump in January. It was quieter than usual due to the weather, but our food was very good. We had an extremely affable waiter from England. The service started out a bit slow, with water poured and wine ordered but 25 minutes before some bread arrived. If we hadn't been so hungry beforehand we might not have noticed. Otherwise, the food was excellent. The Bacon-Wrapped Boneless Quail appetizer was absolutely delicious. The Wild & Tame Mushroom Soup was good, but as we told our server, it needed some cream to give it more depth and round out the taste. The Mahogany-Glazed Black Cod with Lentils was very good, and my partner had the delicious Beef Tenderloin. We'll come back again, but the pacing is a bit slow, so you can't be in a hurry if you're dining here. Read more

Seriously, best restaurant i have been to! Donatello on Elm in Toronto - the service was sooo good - made very special by our knowlwedgable server! The food - sublime! I highly recommend it! What a night!!! The lamb was perfect, and the seafood pasta in a pernod cream sauce to die for. Such wondeful hosts! OMG!They even wrote Happy Birthday Michelle in chocolate around my tiramisu. I had heard terrific things about Domani, a restaurant run by a former pro footballer from Afghanistan who has worked at some of Toronto's top restaurants, and had to come down to High Park and see for myself. The service was very courteous, prompt, and personal. At no point did we even have to ask for anything because it was already taken care of. The food was exquisite, well-presented and skilfully prepared. The portions were large but despite being quite full it was too delicious to leave any behind. The desserts were absolutely amazing, though next time I would do without the espresso. Though Domani requires a bit of a journey, I have not eaten anywhere in Toronto where gourmet food of this quality is available at such a reasonable price and accompanied by such excellent service. I've been here a number of times and I'm never disappointed! Its a great place to bring friends to try something delicious and unique. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. I was there on a recent Saturday evening at 5:30 and had to wonder, though, why the hostess felt compelled to inform me that my table was booked at 7:30. It felt rather rude and unwelcoming. I first visited Allen's back in the 80's, not long after it opened, and I was instantly smitten. So much so, in fact that I moved into the neighbourhood! First I was a regular, then a nuisance, and finally a piece of furniture. I finally moved back to Markham in 1998, and cannot justify going anywhere south of Steeles Avenue without stopping into Allen's for lunch. The food is imaginative, superbly prepared, and so delicious, that even when I'm full, I often look at the menu again, just to see what I'll be ordering on my next visit! And the patio?
