The Cheshire Cat Pub is a unique British style pub just outside of Kanata. When you walk in past the red telepone booth, it feels really authentic with the unusual "kitch" that you would find in pubs in England. We were just there, and found that they had taken off most of there regular drafts to replace them with Ontario craft beers. My husband was sad to not have a pint of Erdinger, but we learned that they were doing this to honour Ontario Craft Brew Week and found ourselves trying The Flying Monkey and a pint of Neustad 10w30 (beers I had never heard of!) Good for them we thought! We also learned that most of the menu incorporates local produce, meat and dairy. Anyway, the food was amazing! Pub fare, but with serious style. I had the Chicken Curry, my husband had the hamburger special and our friends both had the fish and chips. The service was friendly and laid back and the owner came up to introduce himself and made us feel like we had been coming for years. It was hopping busy! This is truly one of those places that we will return to time and time again! We can't believe we waited this long to come in! Read more

Atelier offers an interesting experience, with a blind, 13-course tasting menu and food created in a laboratory, not a traditional kitchen. Some examples of our tastings included flash-frozen coconut, flash-boiled bison, food prepared on an "anti-griddle", wafers made of dehydrated honey, etc. Beyond that, I don't want to ruin the surprises, which really is what the experience is about. Our party was there for about 4.5 hours. All 4 of us did the blind tasting and 2 of us also had the wine pairing option. We were underwhelmed, despite going into the experience with great anticipation. The food was interesting but rarely tasty - only 4 or 5 of the 13 courses stand out as very tasty. The wine pairings were *very* poorly done, with only one truly successful pairing. For the price, we expected a far greater experience in terms of flavours and taste, although it was very interesting to experience familiar flavours in unusual preparations. The service was attentive, friendly, informed, if sometimes a bit over-eager to impress. The lunch menu is excellent, you can build your own or choose one of their many choices available. My friend and I had the garlic shrimp (breaded) and the garlic grilled on a skewer, rice. I also had the cream of bacon and potato soup to die for and of course their cheddar corn biscuits complimentary with every meal. The service is next to none, excellent food and price. The bathroom facilities and overall restaurant are very clean. Lots of free parking onsite. I recommend this restaurant. Read more

My wife and i came here for a night out. We had been recomended the Brew Table by the concierge at the Holiday Inn down the street. We had the steak frites and it was incredible. Cooked perfectly and the service was the best i have ever recieved anywhere. An amazing dining experience all around from appetizer to dessert. Nice touches on their meals. Portions are not over sized, which is good if you don't want to overeat! I've had veal parmigiane (sp?) and the salmon with some unique sauce. The vegetables have been spectacular both times and like I said before, the presentation is pleasing. The house wine (by the glass) is decently priced and quite good. It is a bit pricey though.
