Today was the first day I had been there in years, and things have changed... For the better :) I took my children there so they could see the streetcar like I did when I was younger. All of the staff was warm and welcoming, the streetcar was closed when I arrived but they overheard my childrens disappointment and opened the doors just for us. We were served promptly, and our food was ready in no time. Which I know for me is important when you take out your kids cause they can be soo impatient. My burger was cooked just the way I like it and my cheese was actually melted on which doesn't always happen in the fast food business. The onion rings were a little different than what I remember but they had a good combination of a crisp outside and a soft batter inside. My kids had more of my shake then I did but they seemed to love it lol. I will deffinately be goin back this summer on my way tothe cottage, it's so worth waiting for. Oh. Before I forget, parents be warned they don't have kids burgers, only nuggets which I thought were actually a great portion size. Oh and they're a cash only business they have an ATM, the only annoying thing about stopping in was the people in front of me in line didn't see the signs that clearly say cash only and held every one up. We dined at the Siamese Gecko last evening for our anniversary. The menu had plenty of options, you could choose from curries, stir frys, and soups. After each meal title, there is a ranking of how spicy the dish is starting at not spicy going up to very, very spicy. I chose item 25-2 (sorry, the name escapes me) because it was under the very, very spicy and it certainly was. Even with my tongue on fire, there was an amazing amount of flavour. It was served on a platter with chicken, green beans, sweet red pepper, Thai basil, kaffir lime and crushed hot peppers. My wife had a squash curry that was delightfully creamy and the squash melted in your mouth. It was a non spicy dish with some sweetness in it and again, plenty of flavour. The prices are excellent, most dishes range from 9.99 to 11.99 and we both brought home half of our dinners. Meals do not come with rice or noodles, they are extra. However it was only 1.99 for a bowl of rice that was more than adequate and the whole cost of the meal was very affordable. Service was adequate, the restaurant was clean including washrooms. I visited Johnny's today because I know the owner and told him I would stop and try his pizza. I know he strives for excellent service and product (he has another business as well which is well looked after) and both of these today were outstanding. The pizza is hand made right before your eyes (he even wears the chefs hat!). It is cooked to perfection......the crust is ever so slightly crisp,light and airy..not heavy like a loaf of bread, the cheese melted just to a hint of brown in places. The store itself is small, and simple...one flat screen TV on the front wall, just loud enough to hear. He has about 6 square cafe tables some 4 seats some 2. A display case has a selection of huge slices for quick take out too. Prices are quite in line with the quality of the product, and his pies are bigger than others...his large is the other guys X-large!
