Tis the season to deck the halls with boughs and holly, not to mention a big ol’ Christmas tree. From chopping down your own tree in the woods to hiring a professional to decorate it for you, there are plenty of options for filling your home with holiday cheer. These places offer sparkly holiday magic in the form of trees and wreaths.
If you’re feeling all strong and confident, like a lumberjack, you can cut down your own Christmas tree here (they will provide a saw for you). Or, if you prefer, they have pre-cut Christmas trees that you can take home and care for in the weeks leading up to December 25. Their tree varieties include blue spruce, balsam fir, pine and white spruce. They will wrap trees for an extra fee if you want to make getting it home that much easier for yourself.
If you’re in the market for a smaller, more unique Christmas tree, Heather de Kok Floral Design creates cute miniature Christmas trees. The Edmonton Christmas tree looks like the top of an evergreen has been lopped off and placed in a pot, then decorated with carnations, mums and a small teddy bear. There are also various Whoville trees, any of which will make great centrepieces or work well in a small space – good for Christmas tree commitment-phobes.
This place is a magical Christmas paradise, filled with glittery, decorated trees as far as the eyes can see. There is an abundance of wreaths, trees (ranging from teeny to taller than me), ornaments and holiday decorations for the home. You can also pick up your poinsettias here, in addition to any other flowers you may need. The decorated trees really do add some sparkle to the place, and fill you with the holiday spirit.
This home and garden centre sells fresh-cut Douglas Fir, Grand Fir and Fraser Fir trees, starting in the last week of November each year. Their trees range in height from five to 10 feet, so you can go for a sensible, smallish tree or one so big you’ll need a ladder to put the angel on top of it. They also have a greenhouse full of poinsettias, garlands and wreaths, if you are worried that your tree will get lonely by itself.
While this interior designer doesn’t sell Christmas trees, he will decorate yours – and your mantle and table too, if you so desire. He creates gorgeous holiday wreaths and centrepieces too. This local designer also collaborates with Edmonton celebs to create one-of-a-kind wreaths and sells them in an online auction to raise money for charity. Previous examples of unique wreaths include a tree made from macarons, a hockey puck wreath and a wreath made from painted dog treats.
