Verdun is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Montreal, and over the past century, was quite residential. Over the past few years, Verdun has seen the commercialization of some of their busier streets. Here are a five places worth a visit in Verdun.
JoBlo Restaurant is anything but your average Joe, as the name would suggest. The Steakhouse is located on the bustling Wellington Street and serves tasty burgers and steaks along with other comfort food items. The décor is very eclectic — with leather seating, large horse lamps, brick walls and large vine-like overhead lamps. Be sure to bring your appetite as the portions here are quite large.
If you’re looking for an evening with friends, or maybe to catch a Habs game, Benelux Brewpub is the place for you. Conveniently located inside an old bank, the place is industrial, yet comfortable, and boasts one of the most beautiful terraces in town. They serve a selection of their microbrews by the pint along with delicious finger foods and sandwiches to satisfy cravings. As the first pub to open in Verdun in 100 years, this place is a welcome addition to the neighbourhood.
