Redecorate their room for back to school in Montreal

Here we are back at the beginning of the school year, with all the changes that it brings. Why not make the most of it and redecorate your young school kids’ rooms? Do they need more storage space, a bigger desk space, or a complete "makeover", as our southerly neighbors say? Here are a few shops and stores that could help you to successfully redecorate without completely stretching your budget.

Kido

4100, boul Thimens, Saint-Laurent, QC H4R 1X4

Located on Boulevard Thimens in Ville Saint-Laurent, the Kido store is best known for its accessories for babies but never fear, they also have everything you need to literally transform a room for your young school kids. Visit the store to enjoy their "big kid's corner."

Bluecony Inc

102-6750 av de l'Esplanade, Montréal, QC H2V 4M1

The place is not for every budget, either, but there are 'evolving' desks that will accompany your children as they gain in years... and size!

Les Concepts Zone Inc

3
4246, rue Saint-Denis, Montréal, QC H2J 2K8

In its own words, the Zone store aims 'to share our love of things', and that's exactly what we found there. It has everything you could need to redecorate every room in the house ... but at the start of the school term, the focus is on the your schoolboy or schoolgirl's room. Take them to visit one of the shops (Plateau, Westmount, Côte-des-Neiges and Monkland) and help them to rethink their space for rest and work.

IKEA

9191, boul. Cavendish, Saint-Laurent, QC H4T 1M8

An absolute must - and a real test of patience if you go there with family on a Saturday afternoon - but what fun nonetheless! The rooms follow one after the other, you jot everything down on a piece of paper and hey presto, you go find everything and leave the parents to put everything together. The Ikea catalog is anticipated eagerly by everyone, every year, and we love to redo our entire interior decoration at the store. It's hard not to overspend the budget.

Clément

9193 boul de L'Acadie, Montréal, QC H4N 3K1

And no, Clément doesn't just sell clothing for babies and children. There is also a nice selection of furniture - including bookshelves and offices - for young schoolchildren. The chain has several shops in Montreal (downtown Rockland, Galeries d'Anjou) and the surrounding area.

You'd be crazy to miss it! Here are some of the places in Montreal where you can enjoy a taste: [image credit iStock]
From 21 to 29 January 2017, la Tablée des chefs – an organisation whose mission is to provide food to people in need and educate young people in the culinary arts – and Valrhona are teaming up to bring you the Grande tournée du chocolat chaud. Try delectable hot chocolates for $4 each, with 50 cents from each purchase being donated to la Tablée. Here are a few of the Montreal establishments taking part! [Photo: Donat Boivin]
The croissant is a staple in kitchens all across Quebec, from Montreal to Îles-de-la-Madeleine. So it's only fitting that this perfect pastry would get its very own festival. On April 30, 2016, 75 artisanal pastry chefs are joining forces for the fifth annual Croissant Festival, where croissants of all kinds will be on offer for only $1. Here's where to go to get your fill of flaky, buttery goodness.
