  • Hydrogen Optimized takes centre stage in a video released today by New Economy Canada. The video, filmed recently at our Owen Sound, Ont. facility, provides an excellent snapshot of our company and the bright future ahead for green hydrogen and other clean technologies.   The video includes footage of our High-Power Demonstration Centre, 100 kA RuggedCell™ water electrolyzer and Global Interactive Customer Care Centre. Also featured is our manufacturing plant and solar-powered Direct Connect RuggedCell.   The filming took place during the recent kickoff event of New Economy Canada’s #GettingThingsBuilt cross-Canada tour. The event brought together local politicians at all levels of government, employees, co-op students, business representatives and industry association leaders. Together, they discussed the benefits of the clean economy and how to accelerate its progress.   The opportunity is enormous. Rick Byers, MPP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, says in the video, “Projects like this are so important to people in our community because they translate into economic development. … It’s a very exciting time.” Watch the video here: https://lnkd.in/gb-GmJyZ   #greenhydrogen #netzero #cleantech #waterelectrolysis

  • Celebrating the 100th Birthday of our Co-Founders, Andrew Stuart and Edward S.'s father and grandfather, who was a global #hydrogen legend.  #renewableenergy #hydrogenproduction #electrolyzer #generations

    View profile for Andrew Stuart

Chairman at KEY DH Technologies Inc. - subsidiaries include: Hydrogen Optimized, Isowater, & deutraMed

Today marks the day that would have been the 100th Birthday for my father  Alexander K. (Sandy) Stuart, C.M., B.A.Sc., P.Eng., who passed away some ten years ago. He was a true visionary but also a man of action as well as a leader in the drive toward the world-wide implementation of clean hydrogen. For those that know of his hydrogen legacy, it began as a child with his father providing him with the breadth and depth of what hydrogen and hydrogen technologies (as well as deuterium) could do. After serving in the Navy during WW2 and finishing interrupted engineering studies, he founded with his father, The Electrolyser Corporation Ltd. in 1948 (later Stuart Energy Systems). His father passed away one year later. At age of 26, he then went on to build the business to sell some 1,000 Stuart electrolytic hydrogen plants in some 100 countries.   My father was founding delegate for Canada and Chairman of the Hydrogen Committee at the International Energy Agency (IEA). He served as Chairman of the World Hydrogen Energy Conference multiple times. Other notable achievements include Chairman of Export Development Canada (EDC), Chairman of the Canadian Hydrogen Association; Chairman of the Canadian Exporter’s Association; Vice Chairman of the National Hydrogen Association in Washington; Life Time Achievement Award – Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association; Inductee to the University of Toronto Engineering Alumnae Hall of Distinction; Director of the Ontario Centre for Excellence; Director and co-founder of the Long Point Waterfowl and Wetlands Research Fund; Director of the World Wildlife Fund Canada; and Chairman of the Nature Conservancy of Canada as well as recipient of Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal. He was a member of the Order of Canada.   However, he also felt his most important legacy was his family with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

  • We had a strong turnout of local business and government leaders today for the "Hydrogen in Action" event at our Owen Sound facility. The day included panel discussions on the steps needed to accelerate the hydrogen economy in Owen Sound, Ontario and across Canada. Participants raised the need for all levels of government and the private sector to clear roadblocks and strengthen support for the sector, and to build public awareness of clean hydrogen’s benefits.   Highlights included a panel session with Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Alex Ruff, Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Rick Byers and Diane Austin, CEO of the Owen Sound & District Chamber of Commerce. The panel was moderated by Alexa Young, VP Government and Public Affairs, New Economy Canada, which organized the event in association with the Canadian Hydrogen Association (CHA) and Hydrogen Optimized. The day also included tours of our manufacturing facility and introductory remarks from Denis Krude, President & CEO Hydrogen Optimized.   "The opportunity is enormous," Denis Krude told participants in his opening remarks. According to the Global Hydrogen Review 2024, issued recently by the International Energy Agency (IEA), strong growth in low-emission hydrogen production has been driven mainly by water electrolysis projects, with announced electrolysis capacity totaling almost 375 GW.   We wish New Economy Canada well on the next stops on its “Getting Things Built” cross-Canada tour.

  • Our company’s strategic relationship with ABB continues to make great strides. Together, we are continuing to improve our combined solution and customer approach. Further progress was achieved last week in meetings with a multi-disciplinary ABB team at our Owen Sound, Ontario facility. The meetings strengthened our collaboration in many ways – engineering, sales, marketing, manufacturing (robotics) and corporate strategy. Our standardized 50 MW clean hydrogen technology solution, with our RuggedCell™ high power water electrolyzer and ABB’s High Power Rectifier as core components is being designed to offer a competitive levelized cost of clean hydrogen in the global marketplace as well as a shortened lead time for customer order fulfillment. Last week, ABB sent several team members to our facility including Michael Marti, Global Manager at Business Line Growth Industries, ABB Process Industries and Kevin Pretorius, Business Development Manager: Hydrogen Electrolysis, ABB Process Industries. Numerous team members from our company took part in the meetings including Denis Krude, President & CEO of Hydrogen Optimized, and Andrew Stuart, Executive Chairman. Alex Nardi, Project Development Manager plays a key role as the overall coordinator of our relationship with ABB, which is also an investor in our holding company, Key DH Technologies Inc.     We thank ABB for their tremendous ongoing support and look forward to the continued advancement of our collaboration to deliver competitive levelized cost of green hydrogen at scale to world markets. #greenhydrogen #netzero #cleantech #waterelectrolysis #ABB #ProcessIndustries

  • We were delighted to host the Hon. Sam Oosterhoff, Ontario’s Associate Minister of Energy-Intensive Industries, Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Rick Byers and Owen Sound Mayor Ian C. Boddy at our Owen Sound facility.   Led by Hydrogen Optimized President and CEO Denis Krude and Executive Chair Andrew Stuart, the visit included a presentation on our company along with a tour of our High-Power Demonstration Facility and manufacturing operations. We also took the opportunity to discuss Ontario’s Hydrogen Strategy as well as the supply and demand incentives available to accelerate green hydrogen projects in the province.   We appreciated the opportunity to demonstrate first-hand the progress we continue to make both with our technology and manufacturing capabilities as we gear up for the expanding global market for large-scale green hydrogen production technology. Our home province and city provide an excellent foundation for growth, with a highly skilled workforce, excellent infrastructure, access to the materials we require, and one of the cleanest electricity grids in the world.   #greenhydrogen #netzero #cleantech #waterelectrolysis
