Meet the owner

Verdun has changed a lot since Luke Gendron and his wife Cristel Henssen opened Fromagerie Copette et Cie in November 2008. The changes have all been for the better. “I think we help to boost up the area because Verdun has changed a lot in the last five or six years. I found that nice stores bring other nice stores, and nice stores bring nice people,” says Luke.

Fromagerie Copette et Cie is the only store in Verdun that specializes in cheese, and if you talk to people in the area, they will agree that it’s a great place to shop. Seventy-five per cent of the cheeses Luke and Cristel carry are made in Quebec, while the rest are imported from around the world. They also carry organic deli meats, and some of the best artisanal breads in the province.

it is one of the oldest fromageries in verdun. they have an excellent collection of cheeses from quebec in addition to cheeses from france. they are very helpful in explaining the different kinds of cheeses and if you tell them what you want them for or cheeses and wine combinations, they will make recommendations. in addition, they have one of the best breads in verdun.

Spoil yourself by tasting excellent cheeses from the area and elsewhere as well as artisanal creations that will delight the palate. What goes well with cheese? Cured meats, of course, and it offers not only the basics – beef, poultry, and pork – but also game. On the menu for the Panache event: a Vienna sausage pogo with maple sauce. For dessert, a maple sugar waffle cone awaits you.
