At Syn Studio, we specialize in teaching concept art and illustration for the entertainment industry. We believe that strong fundamentals in figurative drawing, painting and sculpture are the foundations of high-level digital artistry.
If you’d like to brush up on your art skills or launch your career in digital media, there’s a place just for you in downtown Montreal.
It was during his studies in psychology at the University of Montreal that Anthony Walsh got serious about opening his own business. He wasn’t an artist in the typical sense, but he had a penchant for the creative world and began the hunt for a way to combine art and business. His brainchild was Syn Studio, an art school and gallery that opened right in Montreal’s city centre in 2007. Classes quickly filled with eager art students looking for a dose of classic skills or a path to professional mastery for a 21st century career.
As the classes grew, the school annexed the space next door, and then relocated to an even larger space with room for multiple classes, exhibitions and even special events, all to keep up with the demand. With so much to manage, Anthony needed a helping hand and enlisted a friend of his, Daniel Rabinovich, a photographer with a background in project management, to run the school’s operations. Together they continued to grow the school, diversifying its offering, and designing programs to help artists of all backgrounds and skill levels develop their talents and turn their passions into lifelong careers. “We saw a gap between the skills companies need and what schools were teaching, and we set out to fix it,” explains Daniel.
