La Diperie is located at the corner of Pine Avenue and Colonial in the Plateau Mont-Royal. The small ice cream parlour is packed from dawn to dusk with people jostling to taste the creamy creations in a beautiful, brightly coloured setting, all eager to take pictures in front of the famous turquoise counter. The popular dairy's concept is simple and original: it serves an excellent soft scoop vanilla ice cream, manufactured locally the old fashioned way. Customers decide whether to dunk or dip it into one of 30, 100 per cent pure Belgian chocolate flavours. Then it is rolled in one (or more) of 15 toppings for a unique and fully personalized taste delight!
In the range of chocolates, in addition to the classics like dark and milk, there are some amazing flavours like lavender, maple, salt, chili, Bailey's, mint and banana. As for toppings, there's peanuts and almonds alongside pretzels and coconut. The result? An infinite number of possible combinations, each one more delicious and mouth-watering than the next, and at a perfectly reasonable price. Any must-haves? The After-Match, with dark chocolate, pretzels and caramel sauce and the Érablière, a rich maple dipping topped with caramelized pecans.
There are few places that offer up sundae options like this Pine Avenue ice cream parlour. Got a hankering for a salty-sweet pretzel ice cream cone dipped in chocolate? If you can think it, this place has got it.
