I have been going to this eatery for 5 yrs now. It was really good at first when it was called The Bamboo then it was sold and it was just not the same. Now, it was sold again when it became Five Star Chinese Buffet. Now, it is better, pretty much like it was a few yrs ago plus they have the extra food items at the back on week nights that they only use to have on the weekends. It's a good place to eat. If you ate there in the past and liked it I think you will like it again.
Great Service Delicious Food Fair Pricing
We were greeted when we walked in and they wanted to seat us right smack in the middle of the restaurant. The place was not full, so we asked to sit on a different table that was available. The table just needed to be wiped clean, which I didn't think was a big deal. But apparently it was and the lady seating us asked what was wrong with the table in the corner which was clean. I said that we preferred this table, and didn't think it should be a problem. She made it clear she was not happy with that. We ordered 2 glasses of wine, had to wait forever for that. The food was good, no complains about that part. I started out with crab legs. Eating them is messy, since you use your fingers, asked for extra napkins, had hoped since they saw me working with them, they would themselves give me more napkins than the one supplied. Everything was an effort for this woman serving us. Asked for a second glass of wine, again waited forever for it. At the end she came with the bill, without giving us a hot serviette, which is normally supplied. When asked, with God's grace she gave them to us, but cold from the fridge??? I am sorry to say that I didn't leave one cent tip, which is very unusual for us to do. But a good tip comes by getting good service. Sorry Bamboo, Woodstock, you need to work on your manners and kindness to your customers.
Besides being greeted promptly and seated, this whole dining experience was horrible and my husband and I will never be back. We both chose items from the bffet but i quickly noticed that the food had been sitting out for a long time. The mashed potatoes were crusty, all fried items were rock-hard, all of the shrimp were not deveined or cleaned, and there was hair on the garlic bread. we tried to choose other items but between the revolting food and the televisions featuring a program about insects and spiders, we ost our appetites. The server removed our full plates from the table and shortly after they brought a 45 dollar bill for two buffets and one pop. I explained the situation and that we were unsatisfied and had not eaten more than one plate each. We offered to pay for one buffet but definately not two. She said that no one else had complained that day and it wasn't her fault that hair was in the food, and that shrimp are supposed to come with the vein in them. so she wasn't going to do anything. We ended up paying for it because they wouldn't compromise in any way.
This is a pretty good Chinese buffet restaurant. It is a busy place, so service can be somewhat inconsistent, but there is a good variety of food, and quality is very good.
really nice interior since it has been renovated. Food was delicious. Didn't care for "Dr. Phil" playing on the t.v. in the background though but definitely worth the trip for that tasty food. Huge selection of hot dishes.
Need a new person on the phones, usually gets the order wrong. If I ask for no carrots in anything, that means "No carrots". Allergies suck, but it's not difficult to NOT chop a carrot. The food tends to be a liitle too greasy sometimes. Can't rate the establishment interior itself, because don't usually go there as it's always a buffet, and due to allergies, need to special order and it seems to be an inconvenience to order from the menu.
My husband and I usually order from the Bamboo once a month or so. Each time we've gone, we always had good service, both on the phone when I order and when we pick up the food. We sometimes see new faces for servers, but they've treated us well. I love the new decor inside! Keep up the great work!
1. The food use to be great... increasing got too greasy, not hot enough, and a lot of the times the vegetable dishes were way over done. 2. This one waitress - BAD BAD BAD service. She was rude, cold attitude, and was definitely in the wrong profession.. If one does not like customer service then GET OUT and do your self and your customers a favor. That may seem harsh, and it probably is meant to, but one does not like being treated as if they are an inconvenience on their time. My husband and I will never go back. What is sad is, they have had nothing but bad reviews from me since. If anyone ever asks me, I tell them exactly my experience. After ones family spends so much money in one establishment and on such a regular basis, birthdays.. anniversaries and other special occasions, not have a big or anything, one would think that they may be treated with a little more class. I can take the occasional dish that doesn’t quite turn out right.. But bad customer service is something I and many others just won’t except. Thanks for leaving such a bad “taste” for your restaurant. Hopefully you, as in the owners will pay a little more attention to whom is actually serving your lively hood.. Which happens to be people just like me.. Money in the pocket and looking for a good place to go spend it. Your loss.
i always get this for delivery and it comes up to about 23-24 dollars (= it feeds 2 ppl, and theres still left overs after (= ive only had one bad expirience, but it was only because i was sick already, so everything tasted bad.
The consesus in our group was that food was terrible, and the service not the greatest either. Woodstock could really use a true chinese restaurant,in the future we will take our guests to London.
There is a good variety of dishes but they all taste the same. The food is VERY greasy. The staff are pleasant, but most need training on customer service. They were serving crab legs tonight, but wouldn't give me a nutcracker to access the meat. The waitress sugessted I use my fork, obviously she hasn't eaten much seafood. I was not happy with the food at all. It is really, really greasy and very bland. I'm disapointed - I really wanted to like it there b/c its close to our house. Obviously some people do like it there, it was at least half full. I do not recommend this restaurant.
i went with my family and we each ordered something they like to eat the stuff they like to eat something they like before after we ordered it we ate it every body just toke one bite and the rest of it was garbage it was disgusting
Service we found the waitress very cold, and in a hurry to get us out it seemed. Food was very bland actually , and not very authentic.
