The first impression you get when you meet hair pro Sunil Prakash of The Lid Lounge is ‘what you see is what you get’ ― which, when it comes to your precious locks, is exactly what you want.
The salon itself is welcoming but minimalistic. This is entirely deliberate, Sunil says. “We want the best looking thing to be a client’s reflection in the mirror and don’t want anything to detract.”
'We' meaning Sunil and business partner, Dean Villeneuve. The two hair professionals met in Edmonton more than 25 years ago where both were operating their own businesses. After a move to Toronto, they jointly managed a salon for seven years, but when they heard the space below their home was for rent, they jumped at the opportunity to open The Lid Lounge in 2001.
Since then, the skill and flair of their six-stylist team have earned them the title of ‘one of the top ten hair salons’ by Toronto Life ― and more than once.
I decided to give this place a try since it is close by. I asked for an appointment. They booked me on Saturday at 10:00 am with John. I stayed until 10:24 and no John. The other hair stylist appolgize and tried to call john. I left having wasted my time and in a bad mood. They never calle to appollogize or tell me the reason. So not professional
