Golden Dragon Restaurant & Tavern

We LOVE The Golden Dragon Restaurant. We typically eat there or take out at least a cpl times a month. They are VERY welcoming & the food is great quality. The flavors of each dish make Your mouth water. So, IF Your looking for a great meal at a great price, THIS is the place to be. Thank-You Golden Dragon for feeding My Family on days I dont feel much like cooking.

Got take out yesterday. Chicken fried rice had so much grissel in it that I had to throw it away. I mean I had at least 10 pieces of it before I chucked it out. Will not be ordering there again.

Worst service we have ever experienced in our 60 years of eating out. Food was ok but right from the start we were nothing but an inconvenience to them. the waitress was rushing us and even tossed our requested chopped stix onto our table. Brought our soup and barely 2 min. later our food . We were still eating when our Styrofoam take home container was tossed onto the table . Never ever go there .

This was the most DISCUSTING chineese food experience of my life. Much of the, "hot" buffet was cold, the owner of the place was walking around with a FILTHY cloth, ( that he was using to clean the buffet area with & carry out more food to the buffet ). The fried chicken was OBVIOUSLY left over freom the previous day, as was the wonton soup... I could go on & on ....

My boyfriend and I are students, so when we go out to eat, we definitely want to get our money's worth. Going to this place, we didn't REALLY expect it to be anything special, just another run down Chinese buffet... But seriously.... The most disgusting food I've ever had at a restaurant, we got one plate of food each and only ate 1/4 of it... The waitress asked if everything was okay and we just said yes as we hate to complain... She was very kind.

The food here is great, I agree it is the best place for chinese cuisine in Sault Ste Marie. The only thing I think they need to do is renovate, it hasn't been updated in years- still looks the same as it did when I was 8! I think that if they re-did the place, customer satisfaction would be booming! But great food!! Perfect :)

First of all it need to be more wheelchair accesable. Some dissatifaction of the food, it was uncooked or cold. The washroom are too small and not of any means wheelchair accesible. No debit card accepted so I had to pay cash. Very polite service and I will come again

excellent buffet, service was quick, pleasant, and new owners are very nice people. best buffet in town. The lunch specials are awesome, and service was very good. The waitresses have been working there for a very long time and care about their customers too

We all ordered the all you can eat buffet of course! Wide variety of chinese food as well as Canadian cuisine and a salad bar and a yummy dessert bar. Golden Dragon cannot be beaten for their egg rolls. Best in the Sault.

Was in town for the holidays, and since most of our favourite restaurants were not open for dinner on this day, and we were craving Chinese, we tried to push aside the bad reviews we'd heard and went to the Golden Dragon. I grew up in Sault Ste Marie, so I've been through the times of this restaurant being amazing, and heard about/been there when it went super downhill. The place looks pretty old inside - I think the dim light, red carpet?/walls/accents? lead to the dinginess, but it wasn't per se dirty, just dark and heavy feeling where we were sitting - in the dining room beside the buffet, not in the same room as the buffet. It was packed on the date and at the time we went (around 6 PM). New/fresh/hot food was being constantly replaced due to the volume of people, therefore the food was ok to good and why I've given an overall 4 out of 10. I actually liked the soups, egg rolls/fried wontons/chicken balls, fried rice, vegetables and chop suey. These tasted good. Also the banana cream pie and coffee were good. Our server was nice enough, but not helpful at all. The biggest disappointment, and why I probably won't go back is the ladies/hostesses/owners at the door (older ladies who told us they are the owners). When I asked our waitress if they have a seniors rate (as I went with 2 ladies waaaaaaay past the seniors age - ages 72 and 94), she said she'd check with the owners. They refused to give one, so I went to the front, and asked them myself. They proceeded to loudly yell at me, in front of the customers waiting and the ones seated near there, and inform how it's a buffet, same price no matter how much you eat. I understand this (this is by far, not my first time at a buffet, lol!), but come on, what kind of place doesn't have a children & seniors rate? AND, is it necessary to yell at me - I'm not joking, she lost her mind, rapidly yelling the same thing over and over "same price, same price, no matter what you eat". Unbelievable, and uncalled for!

long time ago use to be good but now is terrible.Went there 2 times in 3 month.Our family did not enjoy it at all.The foods are very dry and had funny taste to it.Sorry,we will not be back after we told the manager about the foods.he just don't care and very rude.
