Angie Quaale ignited her passion for cooking into a culinary career. The result? Well Seasoned, A Gourmet Food Store, a popular specialty foodstuff store offering hundreds upon hundreds of unique products, freshly prepared takeout meals, cooking demos and more.
After working many years in the hospitality industry, in hotels and fine dining, Angie was ready to make a career change. “I was always really interested in taking cooking classes,” says Angie. “However, when I needed specialty food items, I had to drive from Langley into Vancouver because there was nothing available in the Fraser Valley.”
Believing she wasn’t the only one who felt that there was a need for a gourmet food store in the Fraser Valley, Angie founded Well Seasoned in 2004. Before long, she added cooking classes to the mix. “I began by offering one or two cooking classes a week as a way to promote my store,” she adds. “As it became more and more popular, we had to expand our space.”
In 2014, Well Seasoned opened up in its brand-new, larger location, complete with a professional grade teaching kitchen, which doubles as a catering facility, and an expanded retail store, with shelves stocked with a dizzying assortment of specialty ingredients and some cooking wares.
