After submitting my first review which was not great, I had a very frank discussion with Shawn Stack, who not once discounted my feelings. This discussion had reinstated my confidence in continuing our business relationship with them. Shawn was very honest and sincere in helping us through our catastrophic financial disaster. Unfortunately the proposal did not work for us, which resulted in our filing for bankruptcy. I wouldn't want anyone else looking after our affairs in this high stress time

Many people think that dealing with a trustee will be a really frightening and horrible experience, but it doesn’t have to be that way. So distraught, I ...
So distraught, I wasn't even able to make the appt myself. I was met with an understanding smile and respect. Lucky enough to meet with Sean directly I was immediately put at ease, my fears subsided and my self esteem restored. I was given such clear options with both of our positions defined. No hidden fees no hidden costs that some may accuse! I feel my life is on track now and I did not fail, I am restructuring my financial aspects. I implore anyone before they lose sleep worry themselves without need go see Sean and his team let the experts put you at ease there is no commitment in talking to them. I cannot promote or thank them enough I can sleep at night again and feel no anxiety, I should have done this sooner. Once again thank you for all that you do Bromwich and Smith.

A necessary servi...
A necessary service for trying times. Very professional and informative. I would recommend them for any credit challenges. I was very unimpressed by the collections tactics used by creditors that are quick to lend and even quicker to railroad your life when the wheels fall off. High interest rates by lenders more then cover bad debt but it also appears to cover un professional collections efforts. Bromwich and Smith cut to the chase and aligned all creditors. Highly recommended.

One of the first things to happen when we are engaged is that we send notice to the creditors and the collectors to stop all contact with you and stop all actions with respect to the debt. They are forced to deal directly with our office so you can focus on getting the “wheels back on” and starting over. I’m glad that we were able to be a part of your solution and your fresh start!

Dear Cheerful, I’m sorry to read your review. It’s unfortunate that you did not have a positive experience with our office, and for that I truly feel bad.
As you are likely aware, when a bankruptcy is filed there are certain things that must be done by the person that filed bankruptcy. These things include going to 2 counselling sessions, submitting income and expense information, providing tax information, making agreed upon payments, etc. These things (often called duties) are required by the law when you file bankruptcy. The point of doing them is for your rehabilitation – to help you get in a better place. If a person does their duties they are eligible to be released from bankruptcy directly from our office (no Court application is required).
If, however, the person that files bankruptcy does not do these duties, the Trustee (that’s us) has to do a report to the creditors, the government and the Court explaining what things were not done. Then the trustee has to go to Court and get an Order requiring that the person not be allowed out of bankruptcy until they do what they were supposed to do. Sometimes at Court, after considering the conditions, means and circumstances of the person, the Registrar (that’s like the Judge) will order that the person has to pay money as well as do the duties that were not done. Perhaps this is the situation in your case, Cheerful?
We understand that sometimes life can become overwhelming and even with our best intentions things don’t turn out the way we hoped and planned. I Didn't Go Bankrupt!
I thought that the only way I could get out of this mountain of debt that I had was to go bankrupt. After talking to Shawn at Bromwich & Smith, he explained to me that there were other options available to me that I knew nothing about. He told me about this program called a Consumer Proposal which was a way of dealing with my debt problem without going bankrupt! I just make one payment a month now with no interest, this I can handle! These people at Bromwich & Smith are TERRIFIC!
