Meet the owner

Baron Samedi, for those who've never heard of the eccentric character, is the spirit of resurrection and the guardian of cemeteries in the voodoo religion. He wears a top hat, is a great rum enthusiast, and is also the inspiration behind the new bar on Masson Street that bears his name.

Inspired by the witchcraft, atmosphere and cuisine of Louisiana, the five owners of Baron Samedi turned to New Orleans to set the tone for their bar.

Best themed bars and restaurants in Montreal

Le Baron Samedi, named after a spirit of Haïtian voodoo, is located a little ways away from the happening bar scene, but it’s worth the trip for the décor alone. The New Orleans-themed bar is filled with old black-and-white pictures, reclaimed wood, Mardi Gras beads and statues of the Madonna. Enjoy reasonably priced drinks, including many varieties of whiskey, and southern-style pub food including pulled pork poutine and fried chicken.
