Awesome pad Thai with shrimp
Best Chinese Food In The City..I always get #2 never had a bad meal yet .Owner and waitress's very friendly. Place is always very clean as are the washroom.
The food is honestly average. This place is very "hip" and its cool to like it here which explains the great reviews. The food is decent if you want an average thai experience. I had their chicken satay, the penut dipping sauce was great but the chicken itself wasn't great. For dinner I got the pad thai and it was very bland and honestly "average" is the perfect word for it. Nothing about it made me want to go back. Simply Thai has better thai food so I'd suggest going there.
For those considering eating here, this is the review you want to read. My first time eating there I went with my family because my brother is huge on trying different foods especially of other ethnicities. I didn't expect it enjoy it as I wasn't big on trying new things. I ended up loving it. So did my entire family. I kept going back, brought my girlfriend. She absolutely loves it. I ended up bringing a friend to basil court. He goes all the time now with his girlfriend and his family which we still joke about to this day. To get to my point, THE REAL REVIEW.... The Place itself.... I'm not going to lie, its not the greatest. Its not fancy at all. If your planning a first date I wouldn't recommend. It is very old and sort of run down but its not a complete dump. I am kind of a high class guy, I enjoy nice things, but I do not mind eating at basil court one bit, nor does anyone else I know. The Service.... It is fairly quick, unless they are very busy. Overall, the waitresses are of some asian ethnicity which matches the style of restaurant. There are only 2 or 3, maybe 4 at most that work there. They are all very nice and outgoing, which is actually nice. They smile a lot, rush from table to table. They are by no means lazy or slow. They try to make sure you are satisfied. I'll leave it at that. The Food.... As you would expect, I find the food excellent. It is by no means the best food in the world, but I love it. Out of about, lets say, 10 people that I know that have ate there, 5 LOVE IT, 4 LIKE IT A LOT, 1 says its good, but nothing special. I really enjoy it, good portions, a lot of the menu is very good. Overall, I would say give it a try. Lunch prices are very cheap, around $5.25-6.00 so you have nothing to lose. Dinner prices are a bit more expensive. $9.25-11.00 (approximate guess, I can't remember exactly) Anyways, hope this review helps.
The food was excellent, the service a tad slow because it's always so busy at lunch. I always have the Curry Chicken, and it's always nice and spicy. Lunch is under $6.00 and the servings are generous.
I must say Basil Court is quite good. I especially enjoyed the Thai Spicy Noodle, Basil Court Spicy Fried Rice and Phad Phod Talay. I felt that these dishes had a wonderful heat that lit up the palate with wonderful and exotic flavours. I was definitely not disappointed with these dishes and would recommend them to anyone with a strong taste for all things spicy. These dishes not only brought a wonderfully cloying heat to the palate but a truly memorable flavour that leaves any spice-hound begging for more. I did have an issue with the Pad Thai though. It seems that Basil Court has opted to go with the oh-so-common version of pad thai wherein the noodles are doused with a ketchupy red sauce. From what I've been told, this form of pad thai is especially popular in Toronto. I consider myself a strong proponent of pad thai where a strong tamarind flavour is present---not the ketchupy version so often sold as the original. I hate to see Basil Court ruin such a wonderful collection of dishes with that saccharine-sweet red pad thai! Again, I'm a pad thai puritan--there simply is no substitute for the wonderfully cloying, yet strangely savoury flavour of unabashed tamarind. I'll end my rant here! Basil Court is a wonderful restaurant, however it's caveat is that it is most certainly not for the pad thai aficionado.
Have been eating at this restaurant for years when I visit Windsor. I'm very particular when it comes to Thai food, and have not eaten any for years in London (where I live) as none of the restaurants are worth frequenting. This restaurant easily rivals anything I've enjoyed while living in Toronto, Kingston (which has excellent Thai/Cambodian restaurants) and Vancouver. 2 big thumbs up!
BEST PAD THAI IN WINDSOR. Don't bother looking anywhere else. Great ingredients, spice levels. I ordered the Veg Pad Thai. Friendly and fair service. Will be back again!
Amazing, inexpensive thai. Looks scary from the outside but always great! Pad thai and the peanut dish are our favs.
I have just one thing to say: this is my best thai experience ever! The food is great, the atmosphere is relaxed ( and yeah, a little retro,,, but that gives charm to the place) I would recommend three things: the coconut chicken soup, the basil beef or chicken and/or the pad thai. The service is also very kind.., really nothing to say there. And all of this for a price that really almost made me feel bad as a client: it is super affordable! I really recommand it to all!
Excellent place located in downtown Windsor. The food was great and the staff are very nice. Go hungry cause the portions are very filling and the prices are very fair. Atmosphere is a bit dated, and seems like its stuck in 1976, but its retro, and well....... retro is in! Also I love the music they play, its a relaxing instrumental blend of beautiful music. The food is served quickly, is fresh, and very flavorful! Its definitely worth a visit!
I've been three times now, and have had the pad thai with chicken - which was incredible! I would absolutely go again and would never hesitate to recommend it to anyone. I think that ladybug down below must own one of the other Thai restaurants in town, because there's NO WAY that is an accurate depiction of the quality of the food and service in this restaurant. Keep up the excellent work, Basil Court!
I was just at Basil Court today and last Friday. I haven't been in years but I thought I'd try it again. Excellent food, really good peanut chicken and chicken pad thai, the ginger chicken and broccoli was also very flavorful. Portion sizes for pad thai are very large, portion sizes for chicken could've been larger but overall very impressive! Order the mild if you don't like the slightest bit of heat.
This is one of the best places in Windsor to eat. It's cheap, it's fast and they make amazing food. Pad thai anywhere else just isn't as good. I adore this place!
I love Basil Court and think it's the best place for authentic Thai food in Windsor. Although the decor is outdated and the place looks like it needs restaurant makeover, the food makes up for it. The people there are super nice and the food is FANTASTIC. I rave to all my friends about it. I swear by their food. They use all natural ingredients and no MSG. Why pay more for crappier food and a better atmosphere at other Thai places? Bail courts diners avg $8-10 bucks while other places avg. 15-17 (for veggie meals).
I visit Windsor often on business from the Toronto area and was sceptical to try Basil Court. The take out is fantastic and I recommend anything on the menu with fresh ingredients. The place itself may be in need of a make over but the food is fresh and tasty!
Pad Thai was really good. Fried tofu was sickeningly disgusting, I took one bite and threw the rest out. BARF! If you want good fried tofu, go to a Japanese/sushi restaurant, the Japanese know what they're doing with tofu.
I recently returned to Basil Court after a couple years. It was nowhere near as good as previously. The service was slow, food was uninspired, and the decor showed a little more dinginess.
My favourite restaurant in Windsor. Can't get enough. Decor is a bit dismal, but food definately makes up for it.
I can not get enough of this place! I have been going so much lately that the waitresses know my order. I recommend Basil Court to everyone. It is my favorite restaurant in Windsor by far. Also, try their tofu. You don't have to be a vegetarian to enjoy it. The texture is so much better than tofu I've had anywhere else (because they deep fry it, but that's besides the point). Its amazing.
