The food and service is excellent. The only thing is keeping me from giving it a 5 star is the long waiting time. I will definitely recommend this restaurant.

The food and service is excellent. The only thing is keeping me from giving it a 5 star is the long waiting time. I will definitely recommend this restaurant.
staff was friendly and accomodating,,enjoyed our meal,,,a bit expensive but was tasty. my sister and i had filled out a form for a membership some time ago and she received hers but up to this date still havent received any. Hopefully this time i will be getting one. Having been at the restaurant with my sister last night, i told the waitress my dilemna and she told me to come online and apply once again and that i should be getting a $20.00 coupon/discount. Lets just see if this happens this time.
For the best night out you HAVE to go to Respect is Burning Supperclub! I find the service fabulous! Even at the end of the meal and on the way out, every single staff person smiles and says thanks and have a good evening. The food is great! The very berry salad is wonderful. The mushroom soup is to die for! And my favourite pasta dish is Ravioli Dali.
PROS - amazing food - fresh and REAL ingredients - a commitment to quality meals - cool relaxed atmosphere - great staff ... attentive and knowledgeable (they know what they are serving!) - SUPER Head Chef - good "bang for your buck"... I've never gone home hungry! - Has a lunch menu and dinner menu. Can go there twice in one day! - Started a new kids menu ... my son gives it 5 stars. Cons N/A My husband and I visit RIB atleased every 2 weeks. If we can sneak in a lunch during the week, even better. The restaurant is THAT good! The way I see it you can go to a chain restaurant and get average warmed up food out of a bag OR you can sit in a living room and have a home cooked meal made for you! Here are some of my favs APPS: caprese salad, deep woods brushetta, werewolf by night pizza ENTREES - gnocchi pasta, tuscan grilled veal chop, beefeater sirloin DESSERT - tiramisu, chocolate cake DRINKS - coffee Thank you RIB for giving me a delicious night out and a much needed break from cooking!!
Every time I visit R. is B., the owner Rob is available and often out making sure candles are lit and just meeting everyone or chatting with you as if you were an old friend. The food is always hot, fresh and delicious. The portions are big, so I either share appetizers and have a soup or salad, or I just have the entree. The service is very friendly and patient. I find the music a little loud. Otherwise, everything is pretty perfect.
The food is NEVER less than great, the atmosphere is 'uptown/downtown'. Rob is the host with the most who takes a personal interest in his guests and makes them feel welcome. Love this place!
Amazing pastas to choose from. Love the atmosphere! If your willing to try something fresh and different, Respect is Burning is the place to go! If you love brushetta and mushrooms, i highly recommend the deep woods brushetta!
I consider Respect Is Burning to not only be the greatest Italian food, but a cool and modern place to dine. The staff is fast & friendly and have never had a complaint about the food. The sage butter ravioli is to die for!! Definitely a place to check out if you're new to the city.
Respect is Burning is always the first choice for myself and my friends when we are looking to have a great meal in a unique atmosphere. It's also perfect for intimate date nights. The menu offers something delicious for everyone. The pizza's are handsdown the best in town - thin crust with real buffalo mozzerella. I especially love to bring out of town friends and colleagues to RIB so that they can experience downtown Sudbury's restaurant gem. We always leave satisfied!
This is our #1 choice always! We dine here to get together with good friends, celebrate special occasions, or simply to get the best meal anywhere. We chose RIB to host our out of town guests at our daughter's wedding rehearsal dinner 2 years ago - and the food, service and atmosphere were astoundingly tops! Everyone was so impressed!! We have introduced so many of our friends and relatives to Sudbury's Durham Street gem who continue to frequent this wonderful restaurant. Not many restaurants have their chef / owner travel table to table to see how you enjoyed the meal. The menu is varied and there is always something for everyone!
I love the food. the owner is personable and goes out of his way to check on customer satisfaction. service is second to none. We spend birthdays , anniversaries and special occaisions here. would like to see facility open after Sudbury Theatre events- no where downtown is open for coffee/ drinks / dessert.
I have to start off by saying I do LOVE this restaurant, I love what it brings to Sudbury, I love how the owner is so creative and started a Respect Club where you can earn points each time you dine and the food CAN be the best authentic Italian ever tasted, however not every time. I have been eating at Respect for years with friends/family and there are times where it's a HUGE Hit.. then times where it is SUCH a miss!!!! When it's a hit, it's hot, fresh and just crazy good, I crave the gnocchi alllll the time. But the times that it was a miss it's overly salty, cold, just really bad. The servers have been terrible since the beginning, it's one thing I have to ignore each time we decide to go. I think they are hired based on image/looks not talent. They are not friendly, take forever, forget things easily, they give the impression that they really don't care if you return and have better things to do... like comb their hair with their fingers for 10 minutes while you wait for more water. The atmosphere is OK depending on where you're seated, I always ask for a seat near the front windows and usually there's no one there but they always say no?! And they have some dark sections where you are under this Red lighting so everything is red, it makes me sick and I like to see my food/company when I go out to eat so I avoid that area. The restaurant is very big and the experience is largely based on where they seat you so make sure you're comfortable before they take your order. However, DO go and try it because when it's good it's AMAZING, the bruschetta is insanely good and the pizza is incredible!!
First time there, read good reviews so gave it a try I really had hi expectation. The atmosphere was nice service was ok but the food was bad. I had the ribs, they where tougher then I ever had in a restaurant just terrible hard to eat very dry.
I live in Toronto, downtown, and to be honest I am pretty spoiled by excellent restaurants and outstanding services. I spent two days in Sudbury (for my work) and found this restaurant just by walking. Excellent service, very friendly waitresses, tasty and crispy pizza, pretty good house wine. Kids friendly even for dinner!!!
Respect is Burning is a palate pleaser over and over again. I always plan special evenings here, and love this place for entertaining out-of-town guests. The only thing I find troubling is the seemingly high employee turnover...there are seldom waitstaff that I recognize, and as someone who visits roughly once a month, I have to wonder why that is...the wait is sometimes long on busy evenings, but the staff is always cognisant of the fact and acknowledge it graciously. The food, however, is FABOOSH! I'm a starch FIEND, so I wholeheartedly recommend the Rustic Papardelle and the Penne Puttanesca. The new Caprese Salad is an utter delight: layers of fresh sliced tomato & fresh mozzarella with a super-savoury pesto, on top of perfectly buttery-garlicky crustini, atop a bed of delightfully vinegared greens...give it three shakes of salt and u are in caprese HEAVEN! The atmosphere is an eclectic chic mishmash of trouvailles that bespeaks a heartily-lived life and a love of living in the laid-back, fashionable lane too. One suggestion? Implement a dress code! Bring back the cool!
We arrived at seven forty five for an eight o'clock reservation and were made to wait till eight twenty for a table. One male staff member was far too friendly with one of our guests and when he should have been taking orders or washing dishes he was in fact flirting . At nine fifteen i was ready to call for Chinese food or a take out form another restaurant as it was apparent we weren't getting our orders . When i mentioned it to the staff i was looked at in disgust as if to say how dare you ask for us to hurry up . Finally our meal arrived at ten twenty five ( the kitchen closes at ten)and it was anything but good the pizza tasted like it came out of a box ( obviously a frozen pizza) and the steak was just ok the veggies had some kind of hot sauce on them and were not edible .
We had a great experience once again at RIB. This was the first visit with my inlaws and they loved it. Food was amazing. Service from Jordan was amazing. Overall, amazing. I am currently organizing a small group event because it's just so great!
I love Respect! I like to go out with my friends, but I detest poor service and bad food. I've never had a bad meal at Respect, and the service is always good. I love the gnocchi...it's amazing. And so is the tiramisu. After I tried Respect's tiramisu, I decided to see if I could find better tiramisu anywhere else in Sudbury. Every time I had dessert at a restaurant that served tiramisu, I'd order it. Congrats Respect, you still hold the title of the best tiramisu in Sudbury. I recommend it to everyone! A few small complaints...last time I was there, the tiramisu was still frozen in the middle...not quite as tasty that way. And the bruschetta is almost always lukewarm. I think it'd be better a little warmer most of the time. Finally, your website is hard to look at. It's too busy and you get lost in all the crazy pictures and fonts. Thanks a lot for giving Sudbury this great restaurant! Rob, you're wonderful and your wife and child are beautiful! Good job!
This is possibly my favorite restaurant in Sudbury, I am bit younger, and I can understand how some of the older crowd perhaps would not enjoy it, that being said, it is one of a select few restaurants in Sudbury with a hip urban feel to it, it is the perfect place, perhaps not for intimacy, but for a social gathering. I have gone here for one on one dates before as well, I find it creates a much more casual relaxing evening, with bit of atmosphere, I personally prefer a lively upbeat atmosphere over silence and dim light. The food is excellent I've been to Respect is Burning a number of times and have never had a complaint about the food, authentic Italian at extremely fair prices. The service is great, and while once in a while there is a minor problem, it is always corrected immideately. I'm always shown great hospitality, often by the owner himself, who is often seen on the floor ensuring quality personally. I don't go out too often, but I try to make my way to RIB when I do, not only because of the food, but because of the way I am treated.
