Love this place! The food is amazing and the staff are so friendly. The thai coconut chicken and yellow curry are mouth-watering. I don't usually dine-in, but takeout service is always good. I moved away from the area but still go here for thai food. So delicious.
Owner is rude to people with toddlers though his staff!!! This is the 1st review I've ever written because I'm so angry from this dining experience. I was here once before with my 24 month old and had not problems, but this time was different. I went for the lunch buffet as soon as soon as they opened today with my almost 2.5yr old. We were the first ones there and there were only 2 other tables by the time we left. I asked for a high chair and the server pointed to it...I had to get it myself. And so it begins... I went to get soup and got at extra small bowl for my daughter to put some mushrooms in. The server approaches me and tells me that if I used an extra plate (not bowl) for my daughter that they would have to charge us for a 2nd buffet! But that she'd get me a spoon for her...she did and it was filthy, I asked another server to get me a clean one. Unfortunately I had already filled the extra bowl with 5 tiny mushroom pieces so it was dirty...it stayed at our table but I fed her mostly from my plate like the waiter suggested. THAT in itself is enough to complain about. THEN, when I'm almost finished, the server comes to my table with a plate and says she'll just charge us an extra $2 for my daughter, who barely ate anything and was very well behaved (we go out all the time so she's used to restaurants). She said "it's because of the owner." Whatever, as far as I know she could have been the owner! I try to reason with her and order a bowl of ice cream...they only have coconut ($3.50 or so she charged me). She brings the ice cream and says she talked to the owner and they will not charge us $2 because we ordered the ice cream. Whatever. Anyway, the ice cream was so freezer burnt that I had to use a knife to cut it up so my 2 year old could eat it! Anyway, this experience made me anxiou and paranoid throughout my meal and I will not go back out of principal...in fact I might even send this review to the owner! My advice if you go there with toddlers, ask if the owner's around and run the other way if they say yes!
Tucked away in a highrise on Prince of Whales, Thai Coconut serves excellent food using fresh ingredients and a nice blend of Thai spices. Their spicy vegetables with a basil and chili sauce is a generous portion of nicely spiced mixed vegetables. The shrimp pad thai offers plump shrimp on a bed of light noodles, unlike the heavier dishes served elsewhere. Five vegetarian egg rolls were delightful - baked and not fried. Great care has also been taken with the decor and the attentive service. This shows pride of ownership. A lunch buffet was introduced a few weeks ago serving 5 or 6 dishes and has become quite popular. Looking forward to sampling more dishes. April 2009
