My wife and I have been in Ottawa for 15 years. we have a short list of favourite places to eat. This is at the top of our list. The food is tasty and healthy (with great variety), the prices are amazing, the ambiance is peaceful, warm and friendly and the service is excellent. Most of all, though, the people are wonderful. They are the main reason why we love this restaurant. This is a hidden gem. An oasis in the hustle bustle of the market. Don't miss it.
WOW!!!!! What a great, friendly, clean place to go tucked away in Time Square right off Parent /Clarence St. in the market! Everything was delicious and I ordered and sat down then they brought the food piping hot to the table. The staff was wonderful warm! I will go again and again. There were so many choices like vegan, gluten free, spelt cookies, wheat free cake and homemade yoghurt too. Just wonderful!
Very nice, sweet Oasis in the middle of the hussle and bussle of the market. It is hidden in the Time Square Bld. Once found it is a great escape. Very freshly made. Zatar was filled with vegetables freshly cut. Not to spicy. Papadam nice and hot. Staff very Colourful. Worth the wait. U' can bring your Laptop and work in Peace. Very help yourself. If U' are stressed this is a place to relax in.
Excellent, very enjoyable food, great for new vegans, everything was very tasty, staff very calming, more of a self serve space, courtyard has trees and a fountain. Absolutely LOVE the cookies.
Excellent - the dahl was tasty, lots of bread including gluten free, springroll was hot and served with plum sauce, the smoothie I helped myself to from the fridge - service was very bright - staff was very calm and enjoyable to be in the space - lots of plants.
One of the tastiest sandwich wraps I have encountered! I frequently purchase a veggie wrap ($3.50)to take back to the office for lunch and occassionaly, will purchase a second one to bring home for dinner or lunch the following day. I am not a vegetarian so my recommodation is not solely based on a vegeterian diet but I would choose these wraps over a chicken or beef wrap any day! The location of the Peace Garden unfortunately, does not lend to an "evening out" environment. It is located in the middle of the Market Mall and of other stores and office. Most of the seating in not located in the restaurant (maybe two or three small tables inside) - it is more like a food court. Don't let the location deter you from stoping by for a very casuallunch or taking it to go. Other flavourful and fresh dishes are their dahl (soup), vegeterian pad thai and various salads. The service is very pleasant but not quite a full service - you go to the cash/counter to order and pay then they will bring it to your table if need be. Otherwise, you wait at the counter (if something needs preparing) and bring your meal to the table yourself.

"Be Kind to the Animals" – this is the title of a painting that hangs in the Peace Garden, a tranquil 'Coffee and Tea House/Juice Bar' in the ByWard Market that also serves food. You'll find the sense of enlightened tranquillity evident in the service and dishes served here. Come relax and indulge in healthy, freshly made vegan dishes like the Pecan Cheddar Burger or the Avocado Tofu Garden Sandwich.
View this Smart ListWell hidden in the same building that houses Ottawa’s French newspaper (Le Droit), this choice will surprise a few. Truly a peaceful oasis in the ByWard Market Square, the elegant, sari-clothed staff will make you a vegetarian breakfast that includes mock bacon. Don’t worry; the staff will make no effort to convert you to vegetarianism, or anything else.
