Love coming here, great service and the food is the best mexican in Ottawa!
Great Mexican place ! The food was good ! The portion on our plate were very large. The service was courteous and fast ! Our server was bilingual something that we really appreciated. The recommendation from the server were very much appreciated.
This is the best Mexican food that Ottawa has to offer. Not quite authentic, but as close as you'll find. The service is extremely fast, and the food is consistently good every time. I would go at least once a week if I could.
We walked about an hour to this place as we were seeing the sights. It was well worth it, we loved the food and the decor.
The food at Pancho Villa is pretty decent and the price is definitely right, however, this is the most abysmal service I've ever had. Our waiter barked orders at the bus boy (the bus boy was working his butt off, by the way) in a completely condescending manner, and all but completely ignored us for the first twenty minutes we were seated at our table. We waited almost an HOUR for our appetizers to be served, and then another half hour for our entrees. The entire time the waiter was completely rude - we had to flag him down if we wanted anything at all, and he treated us with contempt, as though we were interrupting him by asking him for another drink. The only time our server was nice? When he brought the bills. Needless to say we won't be eating here again.
My girlfriend and I are frequent visitors to Pancho Villa. We usually order the same meals every time (why mess with success!?). First they bring you a small order of complimentary chips and salsa. We then order an entree of guacamole and a dish of nachos. I get chicken fajitas and she will get a vegetarian platter and it is under 45$ including tip. I have never had such great tasting fajitas! They come out sizzling on a skillet! The salsa and guacamole are made with fresh ingredients. I have been to mexi-cali rosas and it doesnt even compare, and pancho is less expensive. I wish they would open up more of these restaurants around here! I plan on going back many times and enjoying lots of great food!
My friends and I were extremely satisfied with the food, ambiance, and service. It is obvious that they make everything themselves and you can taste the difference compared to those 'chain' food establishments. My lunch fajita was delicious and came with rice, refried beans with cheese, guacamole, sour and a chunky salsa for 7.95! My friend said she gets the enchiladas with the Verde (green) sauce for something different. Most people get them with the red slightly spiced sauce. My other friend raved about the 'Chimi' and I am going to try that next time. A stuffed tortilla with chicken or beef and onions and green peppers, lightly deep fried with a sweeter tomato sauce. Yum! The server was very friendly and knowledgeable. He told me they were getting a tequila menu with 100% agave premium brands that weren't previously available in Ontario. He said he had been working there for 14 years so it tells me they care about their staff so they must care about their food!
I cannot say enough good things about this place. The food is inexpensive and yummy (and has some flavour, unlike some of the other "mexican" places in town), and you can customize your sides easily; the service is friendly and fast; the patio is awesome; and the drinks don't taste like they're made from a chemical syrup - it's one of the few places a non-booze-drinker can get something more interesting and flavourful than pop and tea/coffee. It's one of my favourite restaurants in the city. Love it.
I order mole poblano and that was disgusting...the last time that I was there mole was so delicious and a lot of food, but now was poor, the flavour was tasteless, the presentation nothing to rush my hunger...they put 3 table spoon of rice, 6 pieces of chicken breast with a tasteless mole, a ridiculous salad and that it. I remember when I was there the last time I was so full that I demanded get other plate to bring home half of my dinner, also they put tortillas, pico de gallo and everything was so good in flavour t but now I'll never going there again...I order tamales, well they put 2 little tamales flavourless again, I don't really know if the tamales are chicken or frijoles (beans) but again 3 table spoon of rice, and again the disgusting salad. I am DISPAPOINTED. About the place, is so small, that you can bring friend because with 20 people is not more place. My friend order rice and chicken and she was disappointed too...super nachos, eewwww full of nothing, I don't know what kind of chees they used (maybe mozzarella), but they put jalapeños, chicken but tatesless, oh yeah!! I thing that the chef have problem with Mexican flavour or latino flavour because he miss all the good taste, about the red salsa …hehehe they served hot and it's have to be cold with tomatoes, onions, garlic, cilantro, hot chilly peppers and lemon juice, chips eeewww...is better to by tortillas chip in or Doritos in store, no salt, no nothing. Please if you going to make a review over there, send a latino person no a Canadian, because Canadian don’t know about latino taste, enchiladas, rice and chicken or very good mole with chicken; latinos like to eat with spices and Pancho Villa restaurant they don’t know about it.
I love pancho - the service is always good and the food is always delicious - its got a great patio for people watching and the ambiance inside is nice as well! I highly recommend getting the green hot sauce when you order your food, its delicious!
A lovely Mexican experience. Service was attentive; food was Mexican! All in all, very well done.
