Excellent authentic Thai food. The staff is very friendly and always helpful.
Authentic Thai cuisine. Excellent food and great service from Nook! Owner takes pride in his restaurant and has a friendly disposition. If you are looking for real Thai taste and friendly service, don't miss this jewel!
The food is alright but the services is the worst ever. So many fly in the restaurant and I even got one in my bowl while I was eating. I did not gotten any appology from the waitress at all. She said she has no control over the fly and very reluctant to replace a new dish. I WILL NOT VISIT THIS PLACE ANY MORE!
One of my favourite restaurants. The Chicken Pad Thai is my regular order here and it is exquisite. The decor is lovely and the food is delicious.
The food was alright--average. Not too bad but not amazing either. The red curry with pork was a bit too sweet and oily for my liking. We also ordered chicken in a garlic ginger sauce with veggies. That was alright. Too expensive for what you get. The portions are kind of small and I was still hungry after the meal , and I'm a 120 pound woman! For 2 dishes with rice and 1 Jasmine tea it came to 40 dollars after tax and tip. The service was friendly and fast, but this was on a Monday night at 9 pm and we were the only customers in the restaurant. I didn't like the atmosphere it was a bit tacky. But overall an average place, nothing to write home about though.
I have no idea why so many people have written good things about this place. The food is way below average. Service is horrible. We ordered pad thai, cashew shrimps and one rice to go with, and we were brought and charged for two. When we brought this to their attention, they said you've already eaten all of it. We hadn't, and we didn't care paying for it, but that was no way to respond. Also, it took forever for the main course to come after appetizer and then forever for the bill. Finally we had to just get up and walk to the counter and pay for ourselves. Food was not tasty at all, and they charge extra for the hot sauce. 0.75 mind you but that is just cheap. They might as well add it to the dish prices and just bring it. When they did bring it out, it is not a hot "sauce". It is sliced chillies in vinegar. People who are raving about this place really need to bring up their pallettes to the standard.
I have been to many places in the world. Also in Thailand but the food quality ,taste and service is nowhere to be found as comparable with this restaurant. I am a frequent visitor and will go there again and again.
My second time enjoying Nokham but my first time eating in the restaurant. We arrived towards the end of the lunch rush and we enjoyed attentive service. The place was nicely cooled down, it was really hot outside. The food was delicious. I was a little disappointed that they didn't serve the vermicelli spring rolls (maybe that is more of a vietnamese thing) but they fried rolls that we ordered were delicious, especially with the sauce. The soup that comes with the lunch special was really good too and the entrées were great - a nice blend of spice in one dish and cream in the other. It was an explosion of flavours. I will go back again!
We have been going there for more than 7 years and have had a couple of New Year Eves there. Always enjoyed the food & the service. Have taken clients, friends & family; all were impressed with the quality/consistency of the food.
I've been coming to this restaurant for a few years now, and the food is exceptional every time. The place is a little small, and you're likely to be in close quarters with other tables, but it's a minor inconvenience. The prices are very reasonable ($12-$14 per entree - don't know what FromPhilly is talking about) too. Try the soup - it's amazing.
I loved this restaurant. The food is the best Thai food I've had (outside of Thailand). The soup, spring rolls and main course were all outstanding and good value. I've already been back there two times and am going back there today. The only reason I am posting here is because I needed to get the phone number of the website and I read a poor review. Too bad, but I guess it's subjective. I think this is one of the best restaurants in Ottawa and in terms of value for money it is THE best.
Diners be aware! This is the most rip-off restaurant we have visited in our trip to Canada and probably ever in my life. From my previous experience in any other Thai restaurants, I thought a $5-6 soup should be good size enough for 2-3 people. WRONG, just barely a small cup. The dessert is also too pricey ($5-6 for a VERY small piece) All 3 entries (shimp, chicken, and a fish dish) are supprisingly small. You could count the number of pieces of shrimp and chicken with one hand. The baked trout is in the size of a hotdog sausage. Service was horrible, just like the other reviewers said.
With only 2 people serving, I was amazed at their ability to keep up. Food is great! My job takes me to a new city every two weeks, mostly in the US. I would rank this restaurant in the top 3 of the Thai restaurants I have enjoyed.
I have frequented many thai restaurants in Ottawa, east end, downtown, west end and by far the best is Nokham, I've been eating there for 5 years. The last reviewer gave Bou Bou a bad rap, yes she can be impatient at times- usually when it's just the 2 waitresses and they are hopping and crazy with customers. Get to know her, she is actually very friendly and if she isn't busy will have a decent conversation with you. As for the food, none compare with Nokham, simply the best in Ottawa, I have never had a bad meal there.
Food = Amazing Service = Terrible That about sums it up. I have been frequenting Nokham Thai for the better part of three years. I used to work in the area, so I would visit for lunch often, but now I visit once or twice a month for dinner with my girlfriend and occasionally, another couple. On this occasion, we had invited another couple along with us for what we consider to be the best Thai food in the city. While the food was predictably great, I was embarrassed by how poorly we were treated. Bou Bou is the worst waitress I have had in recent memory, and should not be in the service industry so far as I am concerned. From the moment we sat down, she made us feel like she was doing us a favour by being our server. She was short tempered, rude, slow, impatient, clumsy and just plain bad at her job. We waited no less than 30 minutes between water refills (with spicy food, this is unforgivable), she spilled on one of us, and barely offered an apology, she was impatient when taking our orders, and slow to remove dishes. I was embarassed to have brought my friends there on my recommendation. Not a mistake I will make again. I'll be visiting other Thai restaurants for a while. I'm sure I'll come to Nokham Thai again myself, but not any time soon.
I have eaten Thai food in many places but this beats all the rest. When we think Thai we think Nokham Thai
We have been going for 4 years now. Now that we have a baby we don't go in as much but once a month we order it to take home and it is still really good. WE have tried others but we keep on going back to this place.
My brother has taken me here twice for Thai food which is the best Thai food I've ever had. Everything that I've ever ordered has been beyond fabulous, authentic and so tasty. The Green Curry is great and one of their special dishes that comes served in a young coconut is to die for. Will go here every time. It's a very small restaurant so reservations might be necessary.
All of the dishes we had were exeptional, without a doubt the best Thai food we have had. The Jackfruit cake was amazing, as well as the Mango Ice cream. Without hesitation I would recommend this restaurant, but definately plan ahead and make reservations. It is a nice cozy restaurant and fills up quickly. We will be back, only next time we will bring friends with us.
This is the best Thai restaurant I've the pleasure to eat at. The services was friendly and at the perfect pace. The food was nothing less than excellent and my two companions felt the same. We never knew Thai food could be this good.

Showcasing popular Thai soups, Nokham Thai is decked out with traditional Thai art pieces that are almost as impressive as the presentation of the meals themselves. Dishes are served in beautiful chinaware and, if you order right (hint: check out the curries), in hollowed-out coconuts or pineapples. Every dish is as colourful as the next and includes a delicious mix of flavours.
