Father and Son's is not only a great place to eat, it is an icon in the Ottawa area. To the individual with the single bad review...... a place that's busy means that people love it!!! A negative experience does not mean that the restaurant was not adequate, perhaps your expectations were off on a tangent. You waited for half an hour and therefore, you're complaining...
Every student at Ottawa U will attest to the great food, at low prices.
This place is horrible. I brought a party of 12 for one of my friend's birthday, and the service was horrible. We had to wait about half an hour to be served, at which point the food was horribly cooked, the fish I was served was to the point of being raw, and the staff and owner extremely unaccomodating. I would definitely not recommend dining here, noone has any idea how to run a business or what customer service consists of; will never return

Fabulous restaurant! they must custom order their bacon here, everyhting was so succulent and tender, great staff, beer was cold as ice, first time here in a long time and cant wait to go back!
awesome breakfasts. cheap, good quality, quick. awesome for students who want a quick, good breakfast with no clean up or preparation. definitely would go again!
Amazing, especially after a good night of drinking. The breakfast poutine is where its at, and you cant complain about the price. Sometimes the service can be a little slow, depending on which waitress you get, but it is normally worth it once you get your food.
I used to go most of sundays for breakfast, right after the gym. The breakfast is cheap and it's worth it. I really like the food over there. Didn't try much of the menu but I love their hamburgers. They are really tasty and not too expensive.

The food here was terrible, from the microwaved eggs to the overseasoned homefries, to the pre-cooked and re-heated bacon that looked and tasted more like a pre-historic beef jerky. I have never ever been so dissapointed by a greasy spoon. They should try 'cooking' for a change.

F&S is always a great time. The food was good as always and who can complane about 2 eggs, 2 pieces of toast, 2 pieces of bacon/ham/sausage and home fries for $5 plus tip! The service is usually pretty good but the lack in quality usually ends up being rather funny so its all worth it. It's a great home type place.

Personally, the Greak Omlette blew me away. I was considering my ranking in terms of the food, and originally I was considering a 7... However, I feel you must take into account the price of the dish. My guest had the basic breakfast for 3.99... 3.99!!!!! 3.99 for that, was worth a 9. Back to my omlette...It was full of olives and melted feta... For those who haven't had melted feta in something.... wow.... I was very very pleased to say the least. Taters were very good and the coffee was impressive. My general mentality when I go into a restaurant is to try the most interesting thing on the menu. Previously, I had not tried a Greak Omlette and I was pleased! My omlette was 6.49 (I believe) and for 6.49... I very well may buy two when I return... gotta plan ahead...

My work buddies and I are quite a bit older and when we stopped in Father and sons we realized how out of place we looked. Thankfully the staff treated us just like the rest and I no longer felt like a 43 year old. It was a great time and I am now a regular!!!!!!

Father and Sons is pretty much an Ottawa U landmark, students work there, students eat there and students party there. The food is decent and the environment is laid back, it's not fancy, it can get cramped quickly because there isn't a lot of space but it's pretty cheap and you get what you pay for. It's s good time if you're looking for one.
I don't think this place deserves perfect 10's...that's for sure. Service wasn't the greatest. If you're a regular I think you'd enjoy it more than others. If you're a student, you'll probably almost always run into someone you know there.

Fathers and Sons is a terrible place. Their service is terrible. Here is what my experience was like.
We get to fathers and sons and barely get service to be seated to our table. Then, it takes a while to order... approximately 45 minutes later, our food finally arrives but two people from our group did not get their ordered side-orders. then, we were never offered the coffee that was supposed to oome with the breakfast special. Finally, after asking 4 times, our coffee arrives, yet it was spilt all over one of my friends. After eating, we get our bills, and they were messed up too. the breakfast special, was supposed to be 3.99, but they charged us 4.75 for it. The waitress had also mixed the orders and people had the wrong things on their bills.
I will never return to F&S. It is horrible
Current and returning students will tell you Father & Sons is a University of Ottawa institution. Their breakfast special is among the most affordable and delicious in the city. If you’re looking to spice things up, try the breakfast poutine, which consists of home fries with cheese curds and gravy topped with bacon and one egg.
