Best lasagna ever!
Not mind blowing but definitely a safe choice for those who don't want to try something out there. THey will satisfy...it just won't astonish. cute room
I love this place and have gone many time and have never left feeling disapointed. Staff is always polite, courteous and helpful. Food is well presented and seafood is always fresh. The atmosphere is intimate and friendly. By far, it is my favorite place on Preston.
WOW!!!!! This place is amazing, service is excellent. I was treated like a queen! I had my service in the language I prefered (French) The food is to die for!!! The bread is so yummy!!! Everything is fabulous!! I recommend this place to everyone that wants a great taste of Italy! I already recommended it to at least 30 people!!
Missing the wow factorI stopped in for dinner. I didn't have a reservation but the place was empty anyway. I was the only one in the restaurant that evening for about an hour or so until a couple arrived just as I was getting ready to leave. The atmosphere was cozy and quaint but somewhat dated. Could use some upgrades. The owner decided to light candles at the end of my evening (during my dessert). Isn't that something the wait staff usually do upon arrival? Also, the view across the street of the patrons smoking out in front of the Prescott Hotel wasn't very pleasant. Minor details? It's all about the details! That's what makes a truly amazing dining experience. The service was good, friendly, and attentive. My waitress was training someone that evening so at times, she was preoccupied but probably not her fault. I had their butternut squash soup to start. It was good but nothing great. Then I had one of the specials -- grilled salmon. It was fresh but very, very, very bland. It came with roasted potato and roasted vegetables. The vegetables were cooked to my liking....nice and crunchy but there was no wow factor, except for the price. I had the tiramisu for dessert. Was told it was the best in Ottawa but didn't live up to that at all. Tiramisu is my favourite dessert and out of all the tiramisu desserts I've had, this one was at the bottom of the list for me. I think it needed to sit at room temp for a few minutes. It was way too rubbery. It tasted okay but I wouldn't say it was the best. I thought I'd visit the ladies room before heading out. It was clean but dated. Some nice light fixtures and updated decor would do wonders. Afterall, it is an "expensive" restaurant it should look that way. After coming back from the ladies room, I didn't see my waitress around so I thought I'd wait for my bill near the bar. I had a long drive ahead of me and wanted to get going. After waiting for a few minutes, the owner, who was having his meal at one of the tables near the kitchen decided to finally ask me if he could help me. Told him I was looking for the bill so he got the waitress for me. She came out from the kitchen and took care of my bill promptly. Like I said, she was training someone...probably not her fault. Caution, they don't take debit so if you do decide to eat here, bring cash or credit. My dinner: Water, Appetizer (soup), Main Course (Salmon with roasted potato and vegetables) dessert and coffee. Grand total -- $38.00(not including tip). Not a bad experience but not a great one either.
I visit that place once or twice a year. I love the place and the owner is such a gentelman. The price is a little on the expensive side and if it was a little cheaper I would go more.
Small seating downstairs, large room for private parties upstairs, subdued, understated yet elegant atmosphere. Excellent attention to service, and this was from a waitress on her first night! A discussion with the owner on what type of wine we wanted for three with disparate menu choices had him call over the wine specialist who found us a perfect white that wasn't on the list, so don't be afraid to ask! The place is very famous for its risottos, which are at the perfect firm/tender point, absolutely delicious, and NOT in small quantities - I did not want to let a single grain of this délice go to waste. The bruschetta apéritif was of very high quality, the music just loud enough to be unobtrusive yet provide background filler from other diners. Highly recommended, and worth the price, which isn't even overly expensive!
Everything about the meal, service was excellent. The decor was very subdued and the background music was at the proper level that made it very easy to have a conversation while dining. Our waiter was attentive without hovering over you. His wine suggestion was very good. A definite revisit the next time we are in Ottawa.
