We usually order take out. We specify the time of pick up and the food is always warm and fresh. Their pad thai is delicious as well as their soup. Even if it is one of their speciality, we did not find the duck amazing.
Never a disappointment, food and service are among the best in town. I'm usually only there for lunch. Be sure to make reservations it's always busy.
Very good Thai food with lovely sculptures carved from radishes, etc in each dish. An elephant theme is carried throughout the restaurant. Overall a pleasant atmosphere that is hurt by the high temperatures in the restaurant. Have been many times and it varies from warm to far too hot inside. Upon request staff will turn up air conditioning or turn down heat, but it takes a while for this to have an effect and meanwhile it can be quite uncomfortable - even before you've sampled one of the spicier dishes. Now back to the food. The excellent yellow curry is a dish we make sure to include in our order every time we go. Their Pad Thai is good, but a much smaller portion than expected. Each time we've gone we've tried new dishes and I can't say that we've ever been disappointed with the meal, and the serving staff are quite pleasant. I've been happy to direct friends to this restaurant and they've always enjoyed their experiences.
What a nice surprise! We found out about this little restaurant through restaurantica, and truly enjoyed our experience. The food was wonderful, the best Tom Yum Soup I have had so far. They go out of the ordinary for the decoration, from little blossoms of radish to the elephant made out of jams, everything looked and tasted delicious. Service was very friendly and attentive, we can truly recommend this place.
We usually go to the Market for Thai food but we wanted to stay closer to home tonight as it was late. Found Aiyara on Restaurantica and I'm glad we came here. You would never know it from looking at the it from the outside (it's in a tiny little plaza) but the ambiance is wonderful inside. The elephant theme is presented throughout the dining experience from the art to the utensils to the actual food. Anyway, food-wise Aiyara is quite good. We had some pad thai and curry and it was as good as the other Thai restaurants we've been to. The pad thai in particular was quite well done. Would definitely come back again Only down side is the lemongrass tea was quite...weird tasting. I'll just stick with water next time.
We live very close to Aiyara and indulge in their delivery service when we are too lazy to cook dinner. The food always arrives well before the 45 minutes we are told when ordering, piping hot and fresh from their kitchen - best delivery food ever! The vegetarian spring rolls are quite large, and the sweet chili dipping sauce is quite good. The pad thai is a huge portion and usually lasts us a few days (which is great for leftover lunches). The chicken is tender and never under or overcooked. My favourite dish is their red curry - best I've had in Ottawa! Can't recommend this restaurant enough, it's quite a little gem.
We went for lunch, taking a friend out for her birthday. We had chosen the restaurant based on the reviews here and because it was close. The decor was beautiful, intimate and cosy. We were seated and menus brought immediately. When the waitress brought our water, we were ready to order. We all ordered one of the lunch specials (smaller portions with complimentary soup). The food is excellent, served quickly and piping hot. There was a very minor glitch in which two people got their meals and one had to wait (for over five minutes) but as the place was almost filled to capacity at that point, it was understandable. Just the amount of people there for lunch was a testament to this restaurant's reputation. I will definitely return and soon!!!
We keep returning to Aiyara--eating in treated as royalty, take out orders requires a very short wait, and either way the food is delicious.
Tried this Aiyara out after after reading the glowing reviews on this site and have to agree - it is a hidden gem with great care put into the details. Subtle flavors, great food, just right portions, and impeccable service. A cozy, quiet atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!
This is the best restaurent in all of Ottawa!!! I bring everyone I know here!
I love this restaurant. The food and the detail they put into it is amazing. By far the best Thai I've had in Ottawa. I've been to other places where the food was almost as tasty but the flavours and service at Aiyara can't be topped.
Have enjoyed several meals here both Lunch and dinner and would recommend this place to anyone. Great atmosphere and fantastic food, by far best Thai restaurant in the city.
Amazingly awesome thai food. I'd go as far as to say the best in ottawa - their location could definately be better though.
A wonderful thai restaurant. Great food, service and atmosphere. There is much detail put into making this more than just a place to eat, the ambience makes it a wonderful evening out. First visit but will definetely go back
Food was delicious and fresh. The little decorative touches are charming. Staff was helpful and attentive.
I've been here a few times. Great fresh food, nice presentation and good service. Try the home made hot sauce, it's very good.
I was highly "AMAZED" and "IMPRESSED". The food, service and ambiance were wonderful. The plate was decorated by a sculpted elephant made out of chinese radish as well as a beautifully flower made out of Carrot!! When we left we each received an Elephant key chain. 2 Thumbs up Galore!! I highly recommend this place - its a real TREAT.
Our team comes to this restaurant all the time. The food is good and service is very quick. We can come in and finish our lunch within 45 min.
We regularly do take-out here, but have sat down, also. The decor is soothing and beautiful, it makes you feel like you're visiting an exotic place, very authentic. The service is fantastic, always very polite and efficient. The food is delicious! There is certainly an adequate vegetarian selection, and the portion size is just right. The price is also reasonable. In general, it's a great establishment, which is why we return over again.
The food was amazing, the service excellent, and the ambiance very warm and cozy. By far this is the best Thai restaurant I've eaten at. You could miss the location in the blink of an eye as it's nestled within a little strip mall just off Walkley but it is worth being discovered.

Chefs at Aiyara honour the Thai tradition of vegetable carving by adding intricate, artistic touches to their dishes. Elephants are another cultural symbol of Thailand featured throughout the decor and incorporated into the meals. Don’t be surprised to find edible elephant sculptures, pineapple plates and coconut bowls served with your meal. Vegetarians will be happy to know there is an entire menu dedicated to veggie options.
